Landfall Guide

Reach New Eden Town

Follow your apprentice Red (which is a little weird; shouldn’t we be leading?) up the path to an abandoned house. Approach the doorway and start to squeeze your way through, only for boards to fall making you back out.

Turn around and you’ll find some boards and barrels to break apart to show a new way around.

Once you reach a certain area, you’ll engage in combat with a Wanderer. So…maybe just a normal human specter that can take on a more corporeal form than a ghost? Unless all ghosts are corporeal to us?

Yeah, I don’t know.

After defeating them in combat, you can pick up A Letter, Old and Damp laying on the ground to the right before continuing on to the left path.

Keep going over a bridge where you’ll see Red take down a couple more Wanderers. Eventually you’ll drop down into a cave where you’ll enter combat again and learn how to banish enemies. Something that might come in handy against tougher enemies, seeing as these guys die in a mere few hits. Though quite a few appear around you in this tight area.

Here you’ll also find A Note, Damp and Bloody.

If we keep going, we’re met with an Alpha Wanderer and learn charged attacks.

Now we’ll finally be heading into New Eden Town, however, if you take the path to the right behind the first house instead of going straight, you can find A Letter sitting on a barrel in front of a blocked path.

Cross the bridge into New Eden Town.

Meet Charles Davenport at the inn

Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden Landfall

If you take a right toward the schoolhouse you’ll find someone who will tell you just where the inn is and where you can rest at. On top of a barrel you can read The Devil’s Work.

As stated, the inn is the only building that’s lit.

Meet Esther Davenport at her house

After a conversation, head toward the back of the inn where there’s the Inn’s Owner Notice sitting on a desk.

Esther’s home is just down the hill.

Understand why Charles lingers

At the table you can read two Bundle of Letters from Charles, plus another one on a nearby table, and on the tableside in front of the fireplace there’s a Letter from Elinor Combs.

You’ll also get a notice on hints and intent, which is the ability to find hints on someone and put pieces together, which all starts with Esther.

Head upstairs and in the first room on the right you’ll find Scribbled Bible Verses. After reading it, you’ll mention to Red that he dropped something. Pick Charles’s Notes up off the floor to obtain a hint about him.

In the room up ahead you can pick up Where do Nightmares Come From? on the left. Your second hint for Esther will be on the far desk, labeled Unsent Letter to Esther’s Sister.

Investigate the cemetery

Leave the house and you’re left with just Antea as you make your way to the cemetery. On the way you’ll come across a merchant you can either buy or sell stuff to, but I don’t see the point at the moment as you don’t know what you’ll need the things you have for.

You’ll see a wisp that’ll lead you to a fight with some Wanderers.

Continuing up ahead, you’ll learn about insight, which basically lets you know that there’s something important nearby. Approach the wisp again, and you can investigate the blue dust it was hovering over, which is a memory where you’ll need the proper ingredients to perform a ritual on.

This ritual requires Harkening.

You’ll get Charles’s second hint.

A little beyond the ritual site is a lantern sitting on the ground next to Charles’ Bible. It’s the tie for Charles that we can use to manifest him, so make your way back to his grave.

Return to Charles’ grave

Just follow the map to where the grave is. You can’t miss it. It’s got flames in front of it.

Prepare the Make-Manifest ritual for a cutscene.

Escort Esther home

Well, time to follow Esther back to her home.

Join Red at the schoolhouse

Travel on over to the schoolhouse which is open now, though it wasn’t before. On the desk up ahead is a Banishers Techniques book.

Take a seat beside Red for a cutscene.
