Mageroyal can be herbed from a few different zones, but there’s one place that excels in giving you all you’ll ever need in a small amount of time: Hillsbrad Foothills. While Mageroyal can be found out in the open, for the most part, you’ll notice that there’s another herb called Briarthorn you’ll be finding a lot of in the shade of trees.
So if you’re looking for Mageroyal and Briarthorn, you’ll find them both in the same zones, easily.
For some reason, I can remember always wanting to farm this herb, but I’m not sure if it was because it went for a nice chunk on the auction house, I needed it for another profession, or because I liked competing with others to obtain the most.
In fact, I believe this is one of the items I farmed for my “Itemathon” series I thought about doing.
I’d gather a specific item and put it in one of my bank sections until it was entirely full of that one item, then I’d either give those items away or sell them on the auction house, or use them for crafting. When items began stacking in 200s, that plan was obviously nixed. I don’t want to say it’s beyond my farming skills, but I already overload my guild bank with nonsense.
Although, I will say, if people are interested in me doing such a thing, I wouldn’t mind.
FAQ
What are your PC specs?
- You can find them on my PC specs page.
What addons are used for farming Mageroyal in WoW?
- The addon Routes.
- The addon FarmHUD.
- The addons Gathermate2 and WoWGatheringNodes.
Is this a Mageroyal herbalism route for Classic WoW?
No. I play retail, not Classic World of Warcraft, so these routes might not be the ones for you to go by.
In case they aren’t, you might want to check out wow-professions, as they might have updated Herbalism routes for Classic. The differences between the maps are dependent on the lands shifting with every expansion. Especially since Deathwing destroyed the landscape in some zones.
What professions benefit from Herbalism?
- Alchemy
- Cooking
- Herbalism
- Inscription
Obviously Herbalism is going to be your go-to profession first and foremost, because you can’t exactly pick flowers without said profession to begin with. Though you can still acquire herbs through other means–such as treasures out in the world and chests you pick up while fishing.
Alchemy provides a plethora of potions. Some are beneficial for a character’s stats, helping survive in battle, or have some interesting effects–such as Elixir of Dream Vision.
Awkwardly enough, Cooking is another profession that benefits from herbs acquired from Herbalism. Keep in mind, there are very few recipes that need herbs, but the Delicious Chocolate Cake is one of them.
[content-egg-block template=price_comparison]
Chocolate cake might be delicious to eat, but have you ever tried rubbing it all over your body and basked in the glory of its delicious aftermath of chocolatey scent?
I’m not a weirdo, okay?
All right, actually I am, but I’m talking about chocolate cake soap. This isn’t something you eat, you actually do lather your body up with it. It does look delicious and realistic doesn’t it? Bravo to the creators of this mouth-watering product.
Lastly, and one of the most beneficial, we have Inscription. In order to acquire pigments to craft certain items (a lot of them being inks, which then craft into more items), you’ll need to have herbs. Such as with Mageroyal: a stack of five can be milled down into Dusky Pigment.
What Herbalism routes aren’t mentioned?
There was only one zone I had no interest in making an herbalism route in. Needless to say, you won’t find any information on it as far as Mageroyal farming.
Dismissed Zones
- Silverpine Forest
I didn’t really like this zone, to be honest. The route-making and the amount of herbs in the zone (which isn’t that bad!) and the herbalism timer. I think I just didn’t like the amount of Mageroyal I acquired from a full farming route.
What else can you get from farming Mageroyal?
You have a chance of gathering Swiftthistle.
Maps, Routes, and Data
Reduced resolution
The routes in this section offer you full view of the maps in question, at a reduced resolution of 1280×720. In order to get the full resolution of 2560×1440, you’ll need to purchase my In-Depth Farming Guide. It offers a variety of routes for each zone, with all the data I’ve accumulated over the years of farming.
- My farmer is a Horde druid, thus giving faster in-and-out flight form.
- Overall farming time per zone: 30 minutes.
Eastern Kingdoms
Eastern Kingdoms only has one zone that’ll provide you with all the Mageroyal you’ll ever need…as long as you keep farming, I guess. Even so, it’s a zone that everyone goes to as a first priority.
Hillsbrad Foothills
This is a Horde zone.
Here’s the zone that will primarily have the most competition for you, whether you’re alliance or horde. Why? Because it nets you the most of this herb (among others) in the shortest amount of time. Also, you usually cross by several rares that may yield good transmog drops.
On another note, you can mine, herb, and find rares all at once. Certainly a big bonus, this zone.
During specific seasons (or a season) in Hillsbrad, there are events going on, which just adds to the population. To clarify, there’s no need to feel like a population is a bad thing; the more people gathering, the faster the nodes respond for your convenience.
- Mageroyal – 273
Kalimdor
Kalimdor once again has one zone for Mageroyal gathering. The zone mentioned doesn’t have as much competition as the zone mentioned above–which is a good thing.
Darkshore
This is an Alliance zone.
Interestingly enough, I never seem to find much competition here, despite there being a ton of places to find this herb. The route also yields sporadic low level herbs, but not much. The only annoyance would be the craters of the land, but that’s mainly a hindrance to players with land mounts. It’s not specifically for flying mounts, but they are best for this area.
By saying this, I’d like to reiterate this is not a Classic WoW farming route. The land has been destroyed in this version of the zone I speak about.
- Mageroyal – 151
Professions
If you’re curious as to how much gold you can possibly gain from the items listed below, you can always check out The Undermine Journal, choose your region, and then your realm. After that, search for the items below and see what they’ve been selling for lately.
Alchemy
Minor Mana Potion

When low-level players worry about their mana dipping too low–(perhaps they’re a healer in a dungeon or a caster in a battleground)–this is one of their go-to items.
Requires:
- (1) Mageroyal
- (1) Silverleaf
- (1) Crystal Vial
Minor Rejuvenation Potion
Skill: 40 | Usable | Learned via Profession Trainers
With only a minor amount of more ingredients, this potion will regenerate both health and mana. In addition to the mana potions, this is a typical battleground scenario if there’s not a healer within healing distance.

- (2) Mageroyal
- (1) Peacebloom
- (1) Crystal Vial
Elixir of Wisdom
Skill: 120 | Usable | Learned via Profession Trainers

Requires:
- (1) Mageroyal
- (2) Briarthorn
- (1) Crystal Vial
Lesser Mana Potion
Skill: 120 | Usable | Learned via Profession Trainers
Like with the simple mana potion, except more of a boost.

- (4) Mild Spices
- (8) Small Egg
- (1) Flask of Stormwind Tawny
- (3) Mageroyal
