Duskwood – A Zone Overview in World of Warcraft (12.1.0)

Duskwood is an alliance zone, meant for players level 10-30 and founded in Classic World of Warcraft.

Although this zone has an intended level range, if you have Chromie Time enabled, the levels for [zone] will change to 10-50.

Chests

Below are the types of treasure chests that I’ve found in Duskwood. You won’t be able to find a chest in every single location they appear in, and they are on a timer if someone happens to take the specific chests in the zone before you.

Fishing

---

There aren’t enough fishing pools to create a route for them in Duskwood, nor are there any flourishing hotspots of water to dip your fishing rod in–aside from the shoreline. As such, I chose a random location, and decided to start fishing.

Herbalism

I tried creating a route that didn’t zigzag all over the zone to get every single herbalism node, but unfortunately after doing a full lap on a druid, the herbs hadn’t respawned. Thus, I wouldn’t bother with trying to farming this zone for herbs.

Not only that, but there are a wide variety of herbs as well, so you can’t really focus on specific ones. Too many with too little results doesn’t make for a good farming location.

Mining

There aren’t enough mining nodes in this zone to make a good enough route to accumulate enough ore to make a route worth your while. So if you want ore in Duskwood, just look for any nodes that come up while you’re questing, or move on to the next best place.

Rares

This is the list of rares you can find within the zone. Just keep in mind they aren’t always going to be there if someone has already killed them not too long ago, or maybe a while ago, depending. They are on a respawn timer. If you’re a hunter, you might be able to tame certain ones.

Mats

For this zone, I still need to make routes for Small Eggs and cloth.

Spider’s Silk / Gooey Spider Leg / Crunchy Spider Leg / Small Spider Leg

First off, there are three different areas where you’ll find three different types of spiders that can drop Spider’s Silk, which is what I was mainly going for with this route. The drop rate for this material is pretty low and can be few and far between.

I spent about five minutes not even finding one, and then all of a sudden they started appearing.

The Venom Web Spider is in an area where people are going to be doing a lot of questing, because they need to kill both these spiders and the wolves around them. The drop rate for the quest item needed from the spiders is abysmal, which is why they’ll need them more than the wolves.

All this to say, be courteous to those questing that need these spiders.

There’s not going to be a lot of competition for killing the Black Widow, and there are a lot of them, so you can freely kill them in search for Spider’s Silk without too much interference from others.

I almost gave up on these guys even dropping Spider’s Silk, it took me so many kills for even one to drop. I did think it was weird that they wouldn’t, but yes, they do.

The Black Widow Hatchling is another one that not many people are going after, and there’s not very many in the area. So once you’ve cleared them out, you just move on with the route to the next spider section.

I wanted to try to get at least 15 Spider’s Silk for this zone’s guide, but I had time to spare for recording and decided to go for around an hour, which ran me around 30 silk in total.

I also went with my Druid for faster in and out of flight and quick one-shot hits with insta-casts.

As far as how much silk each spider net me within the allotted time I gave myself–the Black Widow dropped 18 out of 290 loots, Venom Web Spider gave me 8 out of 210 loots, and Black Widow Hatchling dropped 4 out of 83 loots.

This section just tallies up all the items I acquired during my time in Duskwood. From farming specific locations that were noted to going through all the quests that I could on my characters. I thought this would be interesting to see, so people can get an idea of what Duskwood has to offer them in the long run.
