The Oregon Trail, did kids back then even know what was going on?
My Thoughts
It’s hard to believe The Oregon Trail was developed in the year 1971.
Even more amazing is the fact I used to play it all the time and thoroughly enjoy is as a child. Though…I don’t specifically believe it was a 1971 edition, as you’ll note in the deals section. A lot of them are around the year 1990, which sounds about right seeing as I was born 1988.
I remember it being a frustrating game, but it never made me wanting to stop playing it. The most frustrating aspect had to be the fact that your party would suffer from injuries. And I don’t know if it ever became a problem for me when I played it, but looking back on the gameplay, it doesn’t seem to have much sound to it. The main aspect involved text.
Since it’s been so long ago, I can’t say if I beat it (though I’m sure I did), or how long it took me to beat it if that’s the case.
Writing about it certainly makes me miss the game, though.
