Settling Down Guide

Speak to Gunnar

Speak to Gunnar in your little town to find out that he’s gonna be your go-to blacksmith, so no doubt you’ll be making friendly with him quite often, and shaking your fist at him when he can’t give you the upgraded equipment you want.

What he will give you right now is a map with monasteries and their treasures, which is four hotspots.

Once of them you won’t be going to because it’s in a high-level zone. Don’t bother. But the other three you can feel free to hit up, even though raiding one location will be plenty enough to complete the quest.

Raid and find resources to build Gunnar’s forge

Since it’s closest, I’ll usually go to the monastery on the left of the map for the raid, and once near the dock, the option for the raid comes up to initiate it.

Charge on through, but there are two buildings you’re going to target that have the most supplies, and you can use your Odin’s Sight to pinpoint them when they’re close enough. The containers are large, and you’ll need help to open them.

Not saying there aren’t other locations with resources, but those are your two biggies.

Return to your settlement and build Gunnar’s forge

Once you’ve hit up all resource locations and bled the monastery dry, it’s time to build the forge. Fast travel back to Ravensthorpe and interact with the blacksmith’s signpost to build it.

Speak to Sigurd

He’s located in the longhouse, and he’s got a room just for you!

Of course he’s going to walk away when you want to talk though. Ugh.

Get acquainted with your room

There are three main areas for you to check out before moving on.

Raventhorpe’s status is basically a note on a pedestal from Sigurd’s wife noting that the next building in your base should be the Hidden Ones Bureau, since that’ll help you the most. Ultimately, it’s your choice, in the end.

Then there’s your bed, which you can rest at whenever you need to regain health.

Finally, a personal mailbox, where you’ll receive notes, which will later turn into quests and such you can take on in the world. A cool concept, really.

Speaking of personal mailboxes, Wayfair has a variety of them to choose from and they look super cool. Maybe get something of a replica of your own home, or maybe something that resembles a home you wish you had.

And if you don’t like a “house-like” mailbox, there’s a variety of other personal mailboxes they’ve got to browse through.

Meet Sigurd at Rowan’s stable

Leave the longhouse and head over to where Sigurd is. Basim will pass you by on horseback, and once you get close enough, a cutscene will start up.
