The Nomad is one of three prologue mission choices in Cyberpunk 2077, the other two being The Streetkid and The Corpo-Rat.

This is the first mission I took when I first started playing the game, and let me tell you, driving my car scared the hell out of me, because man the controls are very touchy when you’re not used to them.

I feel like it may be a bit quieter of a first choice scenario, but it’s not without its battles.

Once the game actually starts, do as it says and remove the Bakkers patch. You’ll turn around as you speak with the cocky mechanic. Approach them and have a little chat.

There’s no point in choosing the second option, as it’ll just revert back to the options and have you choose the first one.

Once you shove Mr. Mechano out of the way, take a gander at the engine and do what you need to do with the coupling. Move to the driver’s side, get in, and start the engine. After the third time, it actually works.

Unfortunately, the antenna doesn’t work.

Once the sheriff ambles over to you, you’re left with a couple choices, but in the end your choices don’t matter. After all’s said and done, you’ll be hightailing it out of the shop soon enough.

Leave your car after you’ve pulled out

If you continue to the telecom tower, there will be a group in this town that will be hostile against you, including the sheriff. By leaving your vehicle first, you can head into the building’s door behind you in order to find some odds and ends, including some stuff around town.

Just maybe don’t get too close to the skull hostiles.

Follow the yellow dots on your minimap to figure out how to get to the telecom tower.

Have fun driving that car of yours as well. I crashed into so many things it was unreal. I’m hoping not all cars drive like this one, and that nomad characters just drive like psychos.

Once at the tower, try to open the gate, then kick it.

There’s a chest on the top of the small building’s roof. You can travel up the stairs to the tower and follow around the side where a ladder’s fallen. Try sprinting and jumping onto the building to get it, but don’t be like me…and just…miss.

The control box is at the very top of the main tower. It’s at a dead end and too obvious to miss.

Open the control box, then connect your phone to it and you’ll be met with a conversation. After all’s said and done, leave the peaceful view of the railing and head back to your car.

Make your way through town to the next destination. You’ll meet Jackie at a ramshackle place and have a conversation with him.

Once he’s got the goods, he’ll bring it outside and you’ll need to open your trunk for him. I know, you have to be nice because his hands are full.

Hop in the car and set off.

Enter the Border Security Building

When you approach the border security area, pull to the right into the red path and wait for the car in front to leave before pulling in as instructed. No need to worry, everything is going as planned, just grab the bribe money and get out of the car.

Head into the building, but watch out for the security truck that almost hit me.

Once inside, place your gun at the front desk, then proceed to room 2. After you’ve given the bribe money, leave the room and pick up your weapon, then get back in the car–this time Jackie is driving. After you get a bit ahead, some baddies try to stop you.

Time for a gunfight in a car!

Do you have to blow up all the cars?

No. In fact, I don’t really think you have to shoot. The cars are basically programmed to wreck and blow up at certain points, and then the last one doesn’t make it through where you drive. Still, it’s fun to at least try to get some headshots in.

Jackie will automatically pull into a safe area and shut the door while it’s your job to get out of the car.

After a conversation piece, you can open up the container and find…an iguana.

Cool!

After a handshake and a hiss from our reptilian friend, cutscenes ensue, as well as an interesting bug I ran into. People were doing the electric slide and had their arms out like they were airplanes. Also, we didn’t have a head attached to us.

That marks the end of The Nomad mission.
