Explanation to Negative Feedback
Steve needs to stop slouching
I mean, you’ve got to feel sorry for poor Steve. His posture is absolutely atrocious. I know mine isn’t all that great because I tend to slouch all the time when I’m sitting and even when I work at times, but he’s on a whole new level.
Few adult scenes
This is a NSFW game, but there’s only two adult scene with one guy, and another scene with another guy, so it’s definitely not hugely focused on the adult side of things. And even with those scenes, they last a handful of paragraphs, making them seem rushed.
Which, I mean, they should be because they’re in a life or death situation through this whole escape room challenge.
In one way, I get the adrenaline. They’re alive right now and can get in a decent moment of lust, but…I don’t know. I wasn’t particularly fond of this side of the game.
Ending isn’t great
You get two different endings (aside from dying), and one of them is the true ending. And in order to get that one you have to pick specific choices all through the game.
But either ending you get is just…pretty lame. Leading us all up to this point and it became a “guess we were wrong and did a bad thing.”
Explanation to Positive Feedback
Painterly art style
The art style for the character profiles of who’s talking have strokes for their shading and adds a kind of painterly look to it.
Aside from them, I also appreciate that the background also looks like it’s been drawn (not in the same style as the character models, mind you), but with VNs you just get used to backgrounds looking AI made, and these don’t have that vibe.
Challenging puzzles
The puzzles of each room you’re thrust into offer somewhat of a challenge–some easier while others might annoy the crap out of you–I’m still annoyed even after playing the game and writing this review. Aside from one of the puzzle rooms, which was ludicrous in its answer, it’s not hard to get through them.
After searching everything, there’s even a hint system of everything you’ve learned right before you’re ready to type in the answer to open the door out, so you don’t technically have to write everything down like I did.
Along with the rooms, the ending also becomes a puzzle because you have to choose who the killer is.
I suppose if you pay attention to the characters and interactions with one another and us, you could figure it out, but I’m no good with whodunnits.
All in all, I do appreciate the challenges, even if I struggled some.
