Bridge to Amber Island is a mission that starts after completing Register Workshop in the game My Time at Portia.

Bridge to Amber Island Guide

The Civil Corps have commissioned a bridge to Amber Island.

Use your Assembly Station to construct a wooden bridge body and two wooden bridge heads, then place all of the bridge parts at the designated spot.

After dealing with the obnoxious competition known as Higgins–no, you can’t date or even get any kind of relationship with him because he’s that much of an asshole–you’ll find yourself with your first largest commission. It’s going to take a while to complete, so while you’re gathering everything you need, take the time to get to know everyone.

On top of that, make sure to take a commission from the board whenever possible.

No commission papers are available on Saturdays and Sundays.

What equipment do you need?
  • Civil Cutter for chopping up wood into planks.
  • Grinder in order to make metal materials, like the Copper Pipe.
  • Furnace for smelting bars and such (I recommend at least three to speed things up).
  • Bronze Axe for chopping larger trees and gathering Hardwood.

After you have all the above, then you can really start working with crafting the materials. Just, y’know, take your time and enjoy things as they happen. But of course you’ll need a how-to on the equipment, right?

Creating your required equipment

Civil Cutter

Mats:

  • Copper Bar – 4
  • Stone – 40

Crafted:

  • Copper Blade – 2
  • Stone Brick – 5

Total:

  • Copper Bar – 4
  • Copper Blade – 2
  • Stone – 40
  • Stone Brick – 5

Grinder

Mats:

  • Copper Ore – 9
  • Stone – 10

Crafted:

  • Copper Bar – 3
  • Grinding Stone – 2

Total:

  • Copper Ore – 9
  • Copper Bar – 3
  • Grinding Stone – 2
  • Old Parts – 2
  • Stone – 10
Where do you find Old Parts?

One of the main differences in making the Grinder is the fact that you’ll have to search the Abandoned Ruins in order to find Old Parts. It’s something you should do anyway, since it’s the place you’ll be getting all your ore and stone from, so it’s not out of your line of work.

There’s randomly placed throughout the ruins, and you’ll never really know where they are until you collect them (or acquire certain gear later on that will show you what items are from a distance).

You’ll have to search for them as you dig for ore and other artifacts and useful items.

Stone Furnace

Mats:

  • Stone – 10
  • Wood – 10

Crafted:

  • Stone Stool

Total:

  • Stone Stool
  • Stone – 10
  • Wood – 10

Bronze Axe

Mats:

  • Simple Axe
(You already have this item, so make sure it’s on your person.)
  • Bronze Bar – 3
  • Upgrade Kit
(Purchased at the store Total Tools)

Total:

  • Copper Ore – 12
  • Tin Ore – 3
When should you buy the Upgrade Kit?

In order to even cut down the trees needed for Hardwood, an upgraded axe is required. (If you’re getting a bulk amount of Hardwood, you can gift them to both Paulie and Aadit for some likes!)

However, before you purchase the Upgrade Kit, take a moment, day-by-day to look at the shops and look at the market price. If it’s below 100%, then you’ll want to go ahead and buy the Upgrade Kit if you want to. The lower the market price, the cheaper the products–you’ll want to buy two Upgrade Kits for both the axe and the pickaxe eventually, so if you have enough cash and the price is right, buy two.

Crafting the Bridge to Amber Island

Now that you have the equipment (I would think…), you just have to understand the materials and amount of them to craft into what. So below are the charts to help you out in both sections of the bridge.

What materials do you need for two Bridge Head?

Mats:

  • Hardwood – 25
  • Copper Ore – 18

Crafted:

  • Hardwood Plank – 5
  • Copper Bar – 6
  • Copper Pipe – 3

Total:

  • Hardwood – 50
  • Hardwood Plank – 10
  • Copper Ore – 36
  • Copper Bar – 12
  • Copper Pipe – 6
What materials do you need for the Bridge Body?

Mats:

  • Stone – 96
  • Tin Ore – 15
  • Copper Ore – 60

Crafted:

  • Stone Brick – 12
  • Bronze Bar – 15
  • Bronze Plate – 5

Total:

  • Stone – 96
  • Stone Brick – 12
  • Tin Ore – 15
  • Copper Ore – 60
  • Bronze Bar – 15
  • Bronze Plate – 5
How do you get a large amount of stone?

While you could always spend a week diving into the Abandoned Ruins and mining through the portions that’ll net you Stone, it won’t be very productive of you, since there’s also portions of the area that’ll give you Copper Ore as well as Sand.

In other words, you have to find those specific Stone regions and stick to them to keep acquiring Stone.

Another option is as stated above, buying an Upgrade Kit in order to own a Bronze Pickaxe. This will allow you to break apart larger boulders that are marble-colored. Not the huge light-colored rocks–those you still can’t break apart, but the off-colored ones you couldn’t break before.

They’ll give you more Stone and other material that mining in the Ruins just isn’t capable of (unless you’re actively seeking artifact pieces).

Placing the Bridge to Amber Island

Bridge to Amber Island

Once you’ve crafted the two bridge heads and wooden body, head down to the riverside where there are two posts you’ll see on your side and then two on the island that you currently can’t reach. If you get close enough, there’s a statement that’ll request if you’d like to initiate building the bridge.

That’s basically where it all happens.

You’ll need to have the items in your inventory, and you’ll need to be able to actually be holding on to them to set them down where they need to be.

Once it’s all crafted, head back into town and speak with Antoine for your rewards.
