Amairo Chocolate, I’ll have some café au lait with a side of beastfolk, please.

At first I saw Amairo Chocolate 2 on Steam, and since it looked really good art-wise, I figured I should at least play the first game. It only makes sense, after all. While the artwork is the thing that beckoned me, I also wanted to play a visual novel that didn’t focus on a school setting. Those become tiring after a while.

At this point I’d rather look at a coffee shop than a school.

As far as the 18+ content of the game, you’ll need to download it from Denpasoft.

Is there a supporter’s playthrough of this game?

There will be in the future, and it’s going to be quite a long couple of videos, let me tell you.

Explanation to Negative Feedback

That sky is bright

Something minor, but going from neutral, relaxing colors to a sudden bright sky had me squinting my eyes a couple times. It’s not as bad as being in a dark environment and suddenly a flashbang grenade going off in front of you, but it’s still a sudden glaring light that doesn’t typically last for long.

Explanation to Positive Feedback

Amazing soundtrack

I expect nothing less from a high quality VN like this.

Cute characters

Seriously, their outfits seem to color coordinate with how they look themselves, and the way their drawn is absolutely adorable. It’s even mentioned several times in game how cute Chieri is–despite her displeasure.

Relaxing backgrounds

There’s something about the backgrounds within the game, maybe combined with the soundtrack at times that’s relaxing. You’ve got a beachfront background, the coffee shop, the shop side of town, and it all just had me relaxed in my seat for the entire game. Then again, who goes to sit down at a coffee shop to stress out, right? We’re there to unwind.

Amairo Chocolate Review

Amairo Chocolate

As I was playing this game, I definitely got some Nekopara vibes (though I’ve yet to play that as of this post). I think maybe it’s just the art style and the fact that there are of course nekos in both games, but maybe it’s more as well–I can’t say since I haven’t played the latter.

The art is amazing to look at, ranging from the items we acquire (like the coffee screenshot), to the backgrounds, to the characters themselves.

I also really appreciate these visual novels where there are subtle animations to the characters as they talk. It really brings them to life and adds that much more personality to them, instead of having them in a static pose with the same face throughout every scene they’re part of.

The voice acting is on point as well.

As far as the adult scenes from the 18+ patch, there are censored with mosaic as far as penetration and the male genitalia goes, but aside from that, the female is on display and there are several sexual situations between the two routes you can choose.

It’s no surprise that we see Mikuri naked first.

Speaking of her, I might’ve gotten a little teary-eyed over Mikuri’s birthday party.
