Tol’vir Archaeology Fragments are difficult when it comes to getting around to collecting everything there is to go with them. This is due to it being a rarity found only within Uldum.

Once you hit 450, they’ll start popping up on the map–but you’ll need to do quite a bit of grinding for archaeology locations in other zones in order to be given the chance at it.

This guide gives you information on the vanity items/equipment you can acquire from Tol’vir archaeology.

It’s a daunting task.

I hope you’re up to the challenge.

What zones have Tol’vir Archaeology fragments?

The zones listed below provide links to my “Zone Overview” posts. So if you want to look at what a zone has to offer you fully, go ahead and check out the links. They’ll have maps to a variety of things and provide useful information.

How do I farm Tol’vir Archaeology fragments?

I’ll be stating the same information below in every Archaeology farming post, so if you’d like to read it, click away. Otherwise, continue on!

Archaeology will always be a somewhat boring task, and doing it without any kind of help can also be a tedious, daunting, and even frustrating. But hey, some people do, because the alternative is relying on something else that may work one day, then not the next.

Whichever way you like to do it, we came up with a few decent ones ourselves.

Don’t use any addons

  • Pro: You won’t have to rely on addons staying up to date and find one suddenly becoming out of date and no longer useful.
  • Con: You’ll have to constantly look at your map to make sure you’re going in the right direction.

Use the addon Minimal Archaeology

  • Pro: Minimalistic setup in keeping up with your Archaeological finds and where the closest ones are.
  • Con: You’re relying on an addon to stay up to date.
  • Con: Best used in combination with TomTom.

What items can I get from Tol’vir Archaeology?

While digging, you’ll either find nothing, in which case you’re too far from the fragment in question, or you’ll find a Tol’vir Hieroglyphic keystone.

These specific keystones are good for only the troll side of archaeology, however. And yes, you can sell them on the Auction House if there’s profit to be made on them. It’s best to sell them if you’ve got time do a lot of digging already, or if you’ve already managed to net all of the items you can obtain from the artifacts in question.

As with every archaeological dig, you’ll get specific artifacts to completely uncover. Once you’ve uncovered one, you’ll get a new one. Some of them are junk, but others are the good kind.

If an artifact has a keystone slot, you can use them to boost the artifact to completion, just try not to waste them. A single Tol’vir Hieroglyphic is equivalent to 12 Tol’vir Archaeological fragments.
