Tilting the Balance Guide
Regroup in Tamworth
Once you get to Tamworth, you’ll need to enter the building in order for a cutscene to start up with Lady Aethelswith in regards to the location of her husband. She’s not exactly open to revealing where he is, but good ol’ Ivarr comes in with head a’rollin and it kind of gets her mouth moving a bit faster than before.
Depending on the dialogue choices, I assume.
But then again, maybe not. You’ll have to find him sooner or later anyway, so the dialogue choices might not matter all that much in the grand scheme of this portion of the quest. Eventually she’ll give up the coordinates in a vague way and we’ll kinda sorta have Ivarr to thank.
Find and explore King Burgred’s hideout
You’ll be heading south toward a place called Offchurch, which is guarded by several enemies. There’s one main open building that descends downward, which would be the crypt in question. As you head downward, you’ll be met with a few different enemies on the main floor.
One of the enemies will have a key.
Book of Knowledge
Keep an eye out for all the areas you can go into to collect treasures, including an ability for Focus of the Nornir.
It doesn’t matter which door you unlock (there are two), either one will initiate a cutscene where you’ll be “dueling” the king with your fists, basically.
It’s a short fight. Unless you’re a tease and want to prolong his suffering and ridicule his fighting style.
Kidnap King Burgred and regroup with the brothers
Tie up the king and sling him over your shoulder (psst, don’t forget the treasure up in here), and make your way out of the crypt, since you’re not dead yet and neither is he.
When you make it out of the camp, you’ll need to call for your mount, because you can’t fast travel, and you won’t want to go the distance on foot carrying a hefty man on your shoulder, okay Hercules? Not only that, but you’ll be chased by the king’s men throughout your journey. It’s up to you whether you want to kill them or bypass them.
Once you get to Tamworth, they’ll back off.
Get to a certain area, and a cutscene will start.
