The Charlatan is a side mission of the game Greedfall, falling under the category of Before the Departure. You obtain it after speaking with Ambassador Sahin in The Great Departure.

The Charlatan Guide
Find the charlatan
You can find him near the vendor in the area. He’s the one in a booth with a crowd around him. Approach his booth for a cutscene.
Unmask the charlatan
Of course, you’re going to need to speak with him.
- Ask for a demonstration.
Go around back to a gate. (The dead crow on the ground isn’t ominous at all.) Inside, you’ll find some notes and a potion of his. One section over there are enemies you can fight.
Talk to the charlatan again.
- Show him the remedy he is selling.
Find the charlatan
Go to the Inn behind you and the seller’s room is on the second floor. Choose all his dialogue options, before coming to these:
- Help him leave the city.
- Escort him. (80 coin)
- Negotiate with the angry crowd. (80 coin)
- Arrest him.
Find a way to exit the tavern discreetly
Unlock the service door on the first floor.
Escort the charlatan
If you choose to escort him, you’re going to have to fight for his freedom. Either leave the back way and escort him the long way around to his cart, or go out the front door of the Inn, fight the mob, then take him to his cart.
Negotiate with the angry crowd
Go out front and speak with the crowd.
- Propose a settlement. (Give them 6 health potions)
- [Intuition] Speak of a horrible side effect.
- Order their dispersion. (Congregation of Merchant Reputation: -1)
- Give up.
Tell the alchemist that he is free to go
Speak with him. Upon leaving the room, you’re asked if you want to fast travel back to the Embassy.
Go and inform the Alliance ambassador
Go back to Ambassador Sahin. (The options may differ depending on if you helped the alchemist or not.)
- Speak about the Charlatan. (Bridge Alliance Reputation: +1)
- Tell him the whereabouts of the Alchemist. (Bridge Alliance Reputation: +2)
- Cover the escape of the Alchemist. (50 gold coins)
- Confront him on his lie. (Bridge Alliance Reputation: -2 and 50 gold coins)
