Chapter 1 – Blood Ties Walkthrough
Blood Ties is part of the game Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy. You’re going to go through an emotional moment as a child and learn a lot about combat.
Blood Ties
Meet with Dad on the docks
Walk through the streets until you come across a crowd you have to shimmy your way through. There is no set path to take for this area, as the game itself welcomes you to explore as much as you can or want, due to how rewarding it is.
Granted, in this first section you’re not going to pick anything up, but by wandering around you can check out what people are doing–such as playing a table-top game or brawling–or listen in on snippets of conversation.
There’s no wrong way to go, as all paths eventually lead you to the group of people.
Train with Ezra
This is where you learn the basic attack. A few smacks of your wooden sword against Ezra’s wooden spoon and that’s that.
You’re a kid, you don’t need more than that.
Beat Ezra to the pit
Time to start sprinting.
As you follow the path, you’ll come across a door. It’s locked. You’ll have to take the steps upward to the right. Even if you dawdle here, Ezra won’t catch you. He’ll let you keep running from him.
There are ledges you’ll have to climb over within the game, especially in your childhood given how small you are.
You don’t have to keep sprinting as if Ezra is on your heels. He’s a big guy, he’s going his own route to chase you down, so feel free to take in the sights if you want to.
Go through a window and this is where Ezra catches you.
After the scene, crouch through the gap in the floor. Up ahead will be another gap to crouch through before coming across the pit. Feel free to hang back and listen to them talk a bit.
Look around Faro’s cabin
There are four items you can interact with in Faro’s cabin. I chose the desk. I don’t think it matters what you look at.
Keep looking around or go back to bed
If you want to look at everything else, you can interact with the figurine on the desk by the wall. There’s Sophia’s book of drawings behind Faro. There’s also his desk drawers you can snoop through.
Once finished, go back to bed.
Train with Faro
We’re going to learn to block now. Eventually you’ll also get to attack him.
Show what you’ve learned
Here’s where you learn about parrying, a core mechanic to battles going forward.
Loot the bodies
There are two bodies you can interact with. I don’t know if you need to interact with both of them, or the one further back, but I’d just go ahead and check out the closest body first.
Find the Handled Cross artefact near the center body to advance the Hoarder achievement.
Interact with the next body up ahead. Climb the ladder. Check out the door in the far left corner.
Survive the ambush
You’ll need to kill two waves of enemies using every skill you’ve learned so far for combat. Don’t worry if you die, because it will spawn you right at the start of the battle again. No putting you further back and wasting your time.
Just get up and try again.
Train with Irene
Now that you have a dagger, you can perform a critical strike on people. Practice it on Irene.
Fight the mercenary
Breaking defensive postures is another combat technique you’ll learn in this battle.
Yes, there’s a phase two with multiple enemies because dude’s a sore loser.
Finishing this chapter completes the achievement Blood ties.
