Rost is at the top

Your main objective is to find Rost for this quest, but before we do that, when you get close enough to the training dummies, you’ll get a tip that tells you by attacking them with a normal attack or heavy attack, you’re able to make parts fly off of them.

In the future, sometimes the parts that break from their bodies aren’t anything that you can grab and use for materials, but other times certain components you can use will break off.

Quite frankly, it’s a little annoying when they do fly off in different directions, but that’s what happens when you smash a machine to bits.

They break.

When you’re done with the dummies, take note of the campfire nearby. You can light it for a quick save or a manual save–though there are still autosaves at key checkpoints during the gameplay. These campfires will also be used in the future for fast travel, so light ’em up.

Follow the main path to find Rost standing at the top of the cliff’s edge.

You’ll need to climb the rocks to reach him, and this is your first clue that there will be those ugly yellow hand-holds that people tend to whine about because of their ugly unnatural color.

But let’s pretend to get over it and recognize the people within this game crafted them like that to be obvious about what you’re able to climb.

Not everyone is trained as an assassin mountain climber in the Creed series.

Speaking with Rost allows you to either continue his quest specifically, or complete the quest Odd Grata, whichever you prefer. Personally, I’ve never tried to finish Odd Grata after completing The Point of the Spear, only before, so I don’t know how it would play out.

To continue with Rost’s quest, you’ll need the following:

  • 10 Ridge-Wood
  • 3 Blaze
  • 5 Metal Shards

Striders have Blaze on their back

Strider loot including Blaze

Craft Fire Arrows

You’ll have to hunt down Striders for their Blaze, which is the container on their backside. Not all of them will drop the component, despite all of them having it.

Yes, it’s one of those games.

Kind of like how’re you going to kill a wolf and not obtain a wolf fang or a patch of fur off of every single one of them. Come on.

If you look on the map, there’s a location where a pack of Striders graze, but you can also freely roam and have a chance of finding them as well.

When you’ve got the Blaze, you’ll also need to acquire 10 Ridge-Wood, which is from the tree stems scattered throughout the land. The 5 Metal Shards will come from the machines you kill, so you shouldn’t have any problem finding them as long as you’re destroying machines you come across.

Once you’ve collected everything, go into your weapon overlay menu and craft Fire Arrows.

Buy the Tripcaster from Karst

Use Tripcaster from weapon overlay

With that done, you can go find Karst outside a hut who will trade you a Tripcaster for a Scrapper Lens that you’ll need to use for an upcoming battle.

A Scrapper Lens is a drop from a Scrapper, which you haven’t fought yet, but don’t worry. This item is automatically in your inventory specifically for trading with Karst and so can’t be sold, in case you’re silly enough to do so.

After purchasing the Tripcaster, you can select it in the weapon overlay whenever you want to use it.

Now it’s time to meet up with Rost. When you’re done speaking with him, do a quick save at the campfire.

As the objective says, there’s a path of destruction that you can follow to collect components as well as take out some Watchers that were left to patrol. You can take the lower path forward or the left side that rises off a cliff–either way there’s a scene.

Scan the Sawtooth for vulnerabilities

At this point you’ll meet the Sawtooth.

Scan its path and lay down the Shock Wire from one point in the ground to another to create a tripwire. You’ll want to probably create several of them, for when it gets up from being stunned or when it happens to leap over the wires, which yes, they can do that.

After you’ve set them up to your liking, engage the Sawtooth and note that its body is susceptible to fire–hence the Fire Arrows, but also there’s a Blaze Cannister on its stomach you can try to aim for as well for an explosion.

Once it’s dead, loot the corpse.
