What To Do With A Lumos Butterfly in Hogwarts Legacy

Lumos is a spell within the game Hogwarts Legacy. If you pick up a butterfly/moth while Lumos is active, you’ll need to place it on its appropriate mirror.

If you happen to be exploring with Lumos activated–probably because you’re running around the castle’s halls at night because who needs sleep when there’s so many places to explore, right?–you might suddenly find yourself with a butterfly flying around your wand.

Well, first off, it’s not a butterfly.

It’s a moth.

And it’s connected to the quest Like Moths To A Frame.

Basically, there are empty frames located around Hogwarts, which start out pitch black. When you shine a light on them with Lumos, they’ll show a location. This location will have a moth–one you might pick up without realizing it’s there.

If you have a moth fluttering around your wand, take it to a nearby mirror, without turning Lumos off.

Once you’re standing in front of the mirror it needs to be at, cast Lumos to turn your nightlight off and the moth will place itself onto the frame, giving you a field guide page.
