I wanted to go through some demos that looked interesting and this one caught my eye in the Visual Novel department. Honestly, I kind of wanted a break from the NSFW games I’ve been going through, because I’ve got a limit when it comes to those and I think I’ve reached it for now.

I didn’t read any into this game.

Instead, it was the screenshot of the talking lamp that sold me on it.

Pros:

  • Unique art style
  • Intriguing concept
  • Boppin’ soundtrack

Cons:

  • The dog is awfully yappy

First things first, I want to say I absolutely love the bold look of the characters when they’re speaking. Something about that art style just has me in love with it, and if nothing else, I’m glad I played the game to see the artwork alone.

Second, I think I read that this was a game directed by the same person that did Ace Attorney, and I don’t know if there’s any similarities in what’s going on, because as of right now, I’ve never played any of the Ace games. I only know of the bold OBJECTION remarks that are often seen in screenshots and always seem to startle me when I see them. Which is the point, I guess.

While the humor is a bit much at certain times, I did have a couple laughs and I’ve definitely played other games that have over the top humor all throughout (I’m looking at you, Deponia), so I’m not new to some of the cringe lines the villains have to offer.

One Step Ahead villain is probably my favorite at this point.

Anyway, the whole concept is unique to me, and something that makes sense that a lot of people haven’t really taken note of? I mean, why wouldn’t ghosts be able to travel through phone lines? It’s the whole electro-magnetic ordeal.

Did the show Supernatural ever even think of this concept? I want to say no, which is weird to me.

Ah well.

This is an incredibly fun demo that lasted around 2.5 hours that I would love to someday buy.
