The Bitter End is a quest within the game Dredge.

I found an Airman in Twisted Strand who crashed there some years ago. He’s the only surviving member of his squadron.

He doesn’t want to leave until he’s avenged his fellow aviators — killed by ‘Mind Suckers’, apparently. I’m to help him with his plan.

The Bitter End Guide

Help the Airman assemble a mortar

The Bitter End

You obtain this quest by following the X that the Collector has placed on your map, after turning in the ring. You’ll need to have one explosive on hand in order to clear debris that will stop you from getting to the Camp.

This area is actually a bit easier to maneuver around than it looks, because the ‘Mind Suckers’ will come out of the water for a moment. You’ll need to stay still while they’re above water until they submerge again, as they’re attracted to movement. Which means don’t go full throttle through this place or they might engage with you when you least expect them to.

At the camp, speak to the Airman and he’ll give you this quest as well as mark the map on where the materials he needs are for the mortar.

Don’t forget to search around for the Dog Tags. He’ll give you Research Parts for each one you find.

Retrieve mortar pieces — find the barrel

The Bitter End

I actually found this one before I initiated the quest, but I believe you can see the plane wreck it belongs to just behind and to the right of the Rickety Pontoon. It’s easy to get there, just follow the openings on the map that’ll lead you right to it.

This plane is pretty easy to get through if you’re already at the camp. Just maneuver through the areas of the map to get to it–nothing should be in your way.

Trap the Mind Suckers — first trap

For the first trap, you’ll need to acquire x2 Grey Mullet and a Gar. These two fish are relatively easy to catch because they can be found in daylight via fishing pole or trawl. After you hand them in, he’ll give you bait, which you’ll need to set at the first trap–in the southeastern section.

Once the trap blows up, take what’s left of the Mind Sucker back to the Airman.

Trap the Mind Suckers — second trap

The second trap involves getting a Catfish and Grey Mullet. Like before, the Grey Mullet is an easy catch. The Catfish is obtained at night through either a fishing rod or a trawl. Give the fish to the man and he’ll once again give you the bait. At this point, you can travel north to the next trap, bait it, wait for it to explode, and take the remains back to the man.

Trap the Mind Suckers — third trap

For the last trap, you’ll have to fish up x2 Longfin Eel, which are only fished up at night with a rod. They take up quite a bit of space, so make sure you have room for them. Catch them and take them back in order to get the bait, and then take it to the southern section.

This should be the final one that you’ve done, but if not, we’ll just treat it as such. With the final proof of the Mind Suckers death, he’ll cut it open to reveal a Shimmering Necklace–a relic that the Collector will want.

Ask him about the special bait and he’ll give you Mixed Bait, along with the special ability Bait.
