Briarthorn is one of the herbs that used to be a pain to get, if I remember correctly. I always used to farm it in The Barrens, and anyone that knows how The Barrens trade chat can be, knows how distracting it is to get a single thing such as this herb. Plus they were spaced out.

But times change.

Now days, this herb is much easier to obtain, though I only take one route to obtain this herb. If I do gather the herb from any other place, it’s because I’m farming another herb, such as Mageroyal.

FAQ

What are your PC specs?

What addons are used for farming Briarthorn in WoW?

Is this a Briarthorn Herbalism route for Classic WoW?

No. I play retail, not Classic World of Warcraft, so these routes might not be the ones for you to go by.

In case they aren’t, you might want to check out Gold Goblin, as they might have updated Herbalism routes for Classic. I already make full routes of fishing in schools with a flying mount, I can’t imagine making a full route for Mining via ground mounts. (Though I did once upon a time for Eversong Woods–truly a hassle.)

What professions benefit from Herbalism?

Obviously Herbalism is going to be your go-to profession first and foremost, because you can’t exactly pick flowers without said profession to begin with. You may, however, have a slim chance of finding this herb in certain treasure chests of the world.

Just don’t farm them this way. It’s not a healthy lifestyle.

There’s a couple secondary professions you can think about grabbing, as far as Briarthorn is concerned.

  • Alchemy
  • Inscription

Alchemy will grant a few different statistical upgrades, though there’s also the Swiftness Potion.

Inscription mills stacks of five herbs down into pigments. You can acquire a lot of this herb in at least one hotspot of a zone, so it’s decent to mill this one if you’ve got a lot sitting around.

What Herbalism routes aren’t mentioned?

The zones mentioned below are ones that I tested and weren’t up to snuff. Some of these routes I need to redo, since it’s been quite a long while since I last updated things.

Dismissed Zones

  • Azshara
There are Briarthorn nodes in this area, but farming them alone in an Herbalism route didn’t net much in the end. Therefore, I’ve created a herb/mining combo for the zone, only available in my In-Depth Farming Guide.
  • Duskwood
It’s been a very long time since I tested this route out, so I’ll need to re-analyze the route and data.

What else can you get from farming Briarthorn?

You have a chance of gathering Swiftthistle.

Maps, Routes, and Data

Reduced resolution
The routes in this section offer you full view of the maps in question, at a reduced resolution of 1280×720. In order to get the full resolution of 2560×1440, you’ll need to purchase my In-Depth Farming Guide. It offers a variety of routes for each zone, with all the data I’ve accumulated over the years of farming.

  • My farmer is a Horde druid, thus giving faster in-and-out flight form.
  • Herbalism skill isn’t high enough? Then you’ll gather Briarthorn Bramble.
  • Overall farming time per zone: 30 minutes.

Eastern Kingdoms

Eastern Kingdoms only has one zone that’ll provide you with all the Briarthorn you’ll ever need…as long as you keep farming, I guess. Even so, it’s a zone that everyone goes to as a first priority.

Hillsbrad Foothills

Briarthorn and the Best Routes for Farming Them

This is a Horde zone.

While it’s extremely beneficial to gather Mageroyal here, there are also a lot of Briarthorn to pick here. During the winter season, in the Christmas holiday event, there’s going to be a lot of characters milling about, so there may be competition during that time. Until then, enjoy all the rares you come across and all the herbs you find.

  • Briarthorn – 224

Kalimdor

Kalimdor once again has one zone for Briarthorn gathering. The zone mentioned doesn’t have as much competition as the zone mentioned above–which is a good thing.

Darkshore

Briarthorn and the Best Routes for Farming Them

This is an Alliance zone.

Interestingly enough, I never seem to find much competition here, despite there being a ton of places to find this herb. The route also yields sporadic low level herbs, but not much. The only annoyance would be the craters of the land, but that’s mainly a hindrance to players with land mounts. It’s not specifically for flying mounts, but they are best for this area.

By saying this, I’d like to reiterate this is not a Classic WoW farming route. The land has been destroyed in this version of the zone I speak about.
