Alicia Griffith – Lakeside Murder, no need to rush, it’s just a murder.

I went into this game thinking it was a hidden object game, because Steam had that as one of the tags, plus this game literally screamed HoG with how it looks.

Well, folks, looks can be deceiving. This is not a HoG at all. It’s just you looking for the specific items you need to progress the game.

Explanation to Negative Feedback

Can’t back out of mini-games

I was on one of the screens where I needed to change the letters to create a specific word, and I couldn’t exit back out to the environment in order to find what the word could be. I was stuck right there until I either figured out what the word was, clicking the hint, or restarting the game.

Main character sounds like AI

You know that robotic voice of the woman in a lot of TikTok videos telling people to do a bit? Alicia sounds just like that lady.

Multiple clicks on items

This is more of a hindrance to me in order to get things moving along. I absolutely hate these hidden object games that make you pick up a screwdriver four times in order to get rid of four screws on a screen, and more of the same. Like putting a key into the lock, turning the key, turning the key back, then opening the drawer. It’s just extra steps that we don’t need.

Nobody takes us seriously

Seriously, we’re investigating a MURDER and everyone is all jovial and laughs and they don’t take a moment of this situation they and we are in seriously. We ask them questions and we get roundabout answers or we’re brushed aside to complete another simple task for them first.

Like, hello???

Genre(s)

Due to their not being any hidden object scenes in game, I had to label it a point and click, because there’s no other explanation for what it is.

This game’s focal point is on the puzzles you’ll come across while getting the items and progression you need.

Alicia Griffith – Lakeside Murder Review

Don’t mistake this game as a hidden object game, because there’s no hidden object scene anywhere in it. And I really don’t like calling it a point and click game, despite the fact that that is what it comes down to. Because this feels so much like a HoG, calling it a point and click would also make every HoG out there the same. I mean, really, it’s all you do in a HoG–you point at something and then you click it.

If I were to call this a HoG, it would be because the environment scenes themselves feel like a HoG when you’re trying to find something to pick up that you might’ve missed.

Honestly, it’s so hard to find something to say for this game that aren’t already listed in the “con” section.

But let me at least say this: If you’re basically a pro HoGer as of the time getting this game, don’t try the hardest difficulty without having played it once already on a more normal mode, because when it says extreme difficulty, it means extreme difficulty. And the fact that you can’t back out of certain areas can just add to the misery and anger you’ll probably have.

That, combined with the lack of concern for this whole murder thing going on, and the funny way the characters talked…I just couldn’t take this game seriously, and I would not suggest it to anyone I like.
