An Eye for an Eye is part of the main questline A Debt to Pay in Assassin’s Creed Odyssey within Kephallonia Islands.
An Eye for an Eye Guide
Talk to Markos
If you’re a bit far from Markos, you can fast travel to Lightning Zeus (if you’ve climbed and acquired the fast travel point) and then head over to him. Especially if Talos is right near you, which in the screenshots shown, he’s pretty damn close to me.
Speak with Markos to initiate a cutscene in which he talks about the Cyclop’s obsidian eye.
Find the eye at the Cyclops’s Lair
Before you travel to the Cyclops’s Lair, look out over the land where you spoke with Markos. You should see a couple of wolves roaming around. Go ahead and kill them to loot items for an upcoming quest.
If you send Ikaros out and look toward where the quest is located, you’ll notice to the left of the gold icon, there’s a split between mountains that you can take to get inside the area, instead of scaling mountains and such.
I didn’t see a difference in enemy numbers between night and day.
There are three locations throughout the Cyclops’s Lair where you can find lions and lionesses to help distract the enemies from you, as well as to get some enemies that tend to patrol out of your way. Now, the animals aren’t always smart enough to wander into camp and could stay out of enemy sight so…don’t break them out of their cages thinking they’ll be your heroes.
The first one is the pen just outside between the two cliffsides that holds two lions.
The second area is further out down the path before you turn toward the cluster of houses. You’ll probably need to get on a higher area to shoot the cages open, if you don’t plan on going down there yourself.
The third pen is located inside the Lair tucked away in a corner.
At the back end of the Lair is a doorway you can go into for a Treasure against the front wall.
If you go through that entryway and out the doorway into the middle of the Lair, there’s another doorway you can see to the left. Inside is a bag that will have the Obsidian Eye.
What happens if you’re caught?
Nothing groundbreaking.
Engage in combat if you can’t avoid it, but even if you kill the guards that were alerted, you’ll still be marked as “seen” (despite none of the other guards knowing of your presence). Once you acquire the eye and get to Markos, it’s noted that someone had been spotted and Markos kind of gives you this disappointed look of his…
…As someone’s nearby silo is being burned down and people scream for the help of a misthios.
That’s all.
Return the eye to Markos
Exit the area so you’ll no longer have a red bar at the top part of your screen, and fast travel to Lightning Zeus.
When you leap of faith down and head toward Markos, you might see some wolves that you can take out. Once that’s done, then speak with Markos in Markos’ Vineyard.
