No “New Game” option in pause settings

This is clearly not a problem on your first playthrough, however on NG+ you kind of know what you’re doing and might want to try the speedrun achievement.

The problem is, if your run isn’t great, you have to exit out of the game and boot it back up for a new game.

Why on earth do I need to quit a game in order to replay it just for an achievement that’s RNG reliant?

I’ve exited out of this game more than six times. Honestly, I want to give the game a 1-star for this alone.

Achievements locked to second playthrough

A Game About Digging A Hole

It’s such a shame, because I really liked playing the game the first time around, but to know they’ve locked at least one achievement behind NG+ is stupid. It’s a game about digging, nobody is gung-ho to dig the same hole in a different way. This isn’t Powerwash Simulator.

Despite its looks, the coziness doesn’t last.

I’m mainly speaking about the five rainbow orbs, but the speedrun could fall into this category.

But I understand the speedrunning aspect, because people like doing that.

Nobody wants to come back to a game just to collect ores that should’ve been there in the first place.

Particles block movements

A Game About Digging A Hole

When you shovel dirt, sometimes pieces of that dirt are separated from that chunk and hang in the air. Not only do they block your movement at the most inopportune time, but I’m pretty sure if you land on them, you take fall damage.

Dealing with them is as fun as driving a car through a road full of potholes.

Twist ending

Hey look, a pro!

Seriously though, I loved this game on my first playthrough, it’s the second where things went to crap, but anyway.

There are some that don’t appreciate the ending, since it kind of took a relaxing game into the shallows of survival horror. Which, let’s face it, you don’t expect something like that in a game about digging, but I kind of liked the outcome.

You don’t really see it coming, but in a way, makes some twisted kind of sense why the house was so cheap.
