The New Guy Walkthrough for Quarantine Zone

The New Guy is the first quest you get within the game Quarantine Zone and introduces you to visually checking survivors for symptoms.

The New Guy

Take the walkie-talkie

The New Guy Walkthrough for Quarantine Zone

There’s a walkie-talkie to the left side of the room, beside your computer that tells you there will be no evacuations today, because nobody’s healthy enough to leave this place right now.

Talk to Georgie

Georgie is not in a sewer somewhere chasing down a paper boat, but he is sitting at a desk with monitors and equipment in the middle of a rainy day.

Let the survivor in

Stand in front of the metal detector that doesn’t work at the moment and wave forward the first survivor. They’ll be stopping on the place indicated on the ground.

Take the flashlight

I don’t know why he didn’t just give us the flashlight in the first place, but it’s right there on the table.

Examine the survivor

All you need to do now is look at the survivor.

There’s an inspection icon in the middle of the screen that has a bar slowly going around it, and this is the only time, that I’m aware of at the moment, that this happens. Oddly enough, the movement of it starts even with the flashlight turned off, so really…you don’t have to turn it on.

It will help you out at certain times though, so it’s very useful.

Open the symptoms chart

If you weren’t like me and did a closer examination, you might notice the discoloration of this person’s eyes. Because it’s not normal, you’ll need to go into the symptoms and tag it as such.

Tag the symptoms

Choose Conjunctivitis.

Switch over to the Distribution tab at the top of the menu.

Send the survivor to quarantine

Because this symptom has a warning icon on it, that means it could either be a sickness or an infection, and you don’t want people with infections to have free reign around here. Because of this, they’ll be going into Quarantine to see if the symptom progresses or not.

You’ve also got a lovely little map of where survivors can be sent to.

Call the next survivor

Bring forth the next victim.

Send the survivor to the residential block

This is meant to be a survivor with no symptoms, but you can still do a visual check to get acclimated with the procedure.

When you’re ready, go to the Distribution tab.

Send them to the Survivor’s Block.

Inspect the survivors

Now it’s your turn to visually check the rest of the survivors and send them to where you think is best. On the top right of the screen, you’ll get money for doing things right–such as eliminating an infected person–and lose money for doing things wrong–like eliminating a civilian.

Obviously, don’t send an infected to the Survivor’s Block like I did on my first playing of this game, because everyone will basically die.

You’ll also earn points for getting an inspection right. The better you are at spotting and tagging inspections, the higher the points, which go up to 9. The worse you are–such as missing certain symptoms or tagging the wrong ones, the lower the score.

My first survivor was easy.

She has a bite, bruises, and cuts on her face. I didn’t even look anywhere else because the bite sent her straight to Liquidation.

The second one was a little more difficult. Obviously she has red eyes, which is an infection, but it’s hard to tell if she has cuts on her legs or if its mud, and this can be a bit of an issue until you get a tool’s upgrade later on.

I think I got an error here because I thought she had freckles on her face, but I don’t think she actually does.

Our last survivor is the one with freckles, for sure. They’re practically neon on his face. He’s also bloody, but that’s not an issue–it is a zombie apocalypse out there, after all, but he’s also got yellow eyes.

All of that is a sickness, so he’s good to go for the Survivor’s Block.

It seems I missed something, because it was a competent inspection, but I don’t know what it would’ve been. This game sometimes gives you a hard time at trying to figure out if there’s a symptom or not.

Go to sleep

And that’s it. You shuffle survivors where they need to go, then sleep it off.

The next day you wake is when you find out how badly you screwed up.
