The Escape in Greedfall 2
The Escape is a quest in Greedfall 2: The Dying World. It triggers at the completion of Doneigad’s Initiation, and you must escape the prison and meet with your people.
Greedfall 2: The Dying World is heavy in the choices matters side of things, from losing reputation to gaining reputation depending on a single choice. Some quests have a variety of these choice sections throughout. Therefore…I won’t be going through all the choice outcomes.
The Escape
Escape from the prison
During a cutscene conversation with Fausta, we come across a couple dialogue choices. The first one:
- Confirm (Nilan: Reputation -1)
- Deny
For the second dialogue choice:
- Speak about Sheda’s death (Fausta: Reputation +1)
- Say no more
After the scene, check the nearby chest for your equipment and put it on.
Guards are behind a door. You can choose to sneak past them via the short concealed path behind them or speak with them directly. If you choose to speak with them, there are choices.
- [Diplomacy] Try to bolster Sybille’s statement (Sybille: Reputation +2)
- Keep quiet
There’s a Black Ulg clan pendant laying on one of the cots of the side rooms past the guards. Make your way down the steps into the Prison Storeroom.
Escape from Olima
Make your way through the evacuation tunnels. There’s really no wrong way to go, as there are dead ends, and some tunnels loop in on themselves, making it easier to run around and gather materials if you’d like.
As you get close to a tunnel with a lot of cobwebs, guards will attack you.
After you get rid of them, up ahead should be some giant bugs.
Pull the lever near the giant center grate in the floor. Eventually you’ll come across a ladder in a hole to climb down. When you reach an intersection, take the path to the left.
Activate the lever in front of the gate, then activate the next lever directly to the left.
When you reach the Maintenance Zone, there are going to be three levers on the left to ignore for now. Go into the next room and there’s a Note from the sewer chief to a young recruit on the table. Within the chest is the thick oil you’re going to need.
Kill the guards that come after you.
Unblock the far right lever with the oil you obtained.
Pull the other levers until both the gates at the bottom section open up. Attack the guards.
The next area will have bugs to get through.
Activate the lever at the far end of the room.
Meeting a compatriot
As you make your way forward, a tutorial will come up for Encampment.
Take the southeast path where you’ll come across a campfire that you can rest at or switch out companions if need be. I believe you can only fast travel to them if they’re activated, but I’m not entirely sure on that.
Make your way south and up the hill to the left. You’ll eventually go over a bridge and make another left.
Use your tracking skill and walk up to a downed bucket. You can roll a skill check for Survival to follow the trail. Track them to just before the main road in front of the bridge for another Survival skill check.
Along the eastern path you’ll find another Survival skill check for the footprints at the base of an upward walkway. Continue forward.
At a split in the path, use another Survival skill check and take to the right.
Once again, another direction split, and another Survival skill check. You can either keep going forward or take to the right, because either way you’ll still end up at the same place. In fact, you can simply disregard the tracking and head up to the kidnappers encampment altogether.
The “Gentlemen of Fortune”
There are two options to choose from here.
The first is to speak with the kidnappers.
- Let Ludwig speak (Ludwig: Reputation +1)
- Ask to see the fisherman (You’ll converse with him, nothing more)
- Offer them gold (Bring them a valuable item) (Ludwig: Reputation +2)
- See: Rock Bottom quest
- Attack them
The second is to sneak by them and free the captive without them noticing. Meaning you’ll need to reach the captive unnoticed–either by taking a key from an enemy (via knocking them out) or using a Mechanisms skill check–then escape with him unnoticed.
If you sneak up to an enemy from behind and knock them out, you’ll get the achievement Neither seen nor heard.
Once you’re far enough from the kidnappers, he’ll tell you where his camp is.
Go to the refugee camp
Make your way to the waypoint and enter the ruins.
All the way to the back is a cave tucked away you’ll need to make your way through.
Among the continental Teer Fradeans
You’ll speak with Ladan.
Set up camp and then rest.
During the fight with Nadaig Digelas, you’ll get tutorial prompts for Tactical Orders. When there are red circles on the ground, you’ll need to use the Tactical Order: Rally to get everyone to move out of the way if you don’t want them to take damage.
After the fight, make your way to the boat, avoiding getting hit by the red areas on the ground as you go.
This leads to the quest The Isle of the Nauts.
