Symptoms can be hard to decipher

Quarantine Zone: The Last Check

It’s not a huge deal, but it can become really annoying after a while, even when you no longer need the points for a good inspection for an upgrade to your tools and such.

I mean, you’re given all these tools to try to figure out if these survivors have any symptoms or not, and the only reason you wouldn’t be able to notice anything is either not looking closely enough–such as with the eyes–or not using the UV that you get late in the game, which can reveal things not seen by the naked eye.

After not having used it for so long, it’s easy to forget, and then you get a low inspection score because you missed something.

Other symptoms are hard to decipher just because their symptom icon doesn’t look the same as it does on someone’s body.

I’m looking at you, necrosis.

And then there’s the symptom of discolored organs, but moldy organs also have a discoloration to them, which makes it confusing to figure out you’ve found a new symptom when it already matches one we have.

It’s frustrating.

Descriptions can be vague

Quarantine Zone: The Last Check

I’m mainly talking about the update for the laboratory on the map. You can have an auto feeder for the zombie, but it doesn’t state that you no longer have to feed the zombie yourself. And when you go to the zombie cage, nothing in there represents something to show you that you no longer have to feed the zombie.

Therefore, people buy the upgrade, and continue to manually feed the zombie.

Just…make the descriptions clear.

Killing zombie waves via PC doesn’t fit the game

Quarantine Zone: The Last Check

Why is it when zombies sneak into the base, we can whip out our gun and eliminate the threat, but when it comes to a zombie outbreak, we have to play this top down shooter game via drone on a PC. It’s like two different games in one, and they don’t vibe well.

Why don’t we go out into the field ourselves and take out the zombies?

Instead we’re waking up in the middle of the night to play a video game.

Becomes boring

By the end of the game, I was getting so many poor inspections because I just didn’t care anymore. And I had like six syringes saved up, so I just used them to make sure I knew who was good to go and who wasn’t before the final evacuation came to pass.

Survivors repeat the same things far too many times that you just start ignoring them.

You look for the same stuff, and then new stuff with new tools, and then too many things so you start missing stuff easily.

They did try to make a variety of symptoms to catch as the game progresses, I’ll give them that. But it still ends up being the same old same old day after day, and it almost lasted too long for me.

You can pet the cat

Quarantine Zone: The Last Check

Thanks to a recent update, they put a cat in the game, and you can pet the adorable furball and listen to it purr as hearts flutter around its head.

Freaking adorable.

Variety of ways to catch infections

At first, you have a flashlight and just need to find signs of infection on the skin that’s visible. Then you get a thermopulsometer to test their temperature and pulse rate. Next is a reflex hammer, and then a scanner so you can see underneath their clothes–without crossing any boundaries, because this isn’t that kind of game–then there’s a stethoscope and an Xray and a matioscope.

So you get a lot of tools by the end of the game, and there’s a lot of ways in which you can actually catch a variety of different symptoms.

It tried to not be stale this way.

No penalty for laboratory

The laboratory is a sort of cheating method if you don’t want to get penalized for a poor inspection or are unsure if someone might be infected or just sick. If they’re not infected, they’ll just end up dying, and you’ll either find a new symptom from them or you won’t.

However, if the person is infected, you’ll still get the money from eliminating them. So it’s kind of a win-win, seeing as if you kill a civilian via liquidation you’re fined $1000.
