I personally didn’t find a con for the game that would’ve put me off.

Explanation to Positive Feedback

City builder

Going from the first game to this one, I did not expect to be building a freshly ruined town, and I kinda love the idea, even though I don’t think many members of the town will be making a reappearance.

It reminds me of Ni No Kuni 2, where you find people to bring to the town and they have perks to help benefit the town.

I don’t know if this might’ve been something in the second game, because I’ve not played it yet, but I don’t know. I just like the idea of rebuilding a place that we loved while also having a main storyline to go through.

Character customization

There aren’t a ton of customizations to do for your character, but I feel like it’s just enough. Aside from some of the normal appearance changes, you can also choose a motion, which I think is the emote you do after winning a battle? So that’s fun.

It doesn’t stop there.

There are three other sections that involve choosing a skill, a favorite dish–one that you can name yourself–, and three belongings. So the game is really setting you up for a playstyle you might prefer over something that the game sets for you automatically.

HD-2D art style

Something that Octopath Traveler is already well-known for doing, but I feel like they just expanded on it and made it so much better. Especially when the camera pans out to take in the pixelated beauty of the whole town.

The enemies of course are also graphically fantastic.

Not to mention some of the parts of the game that show hand-drawn sketch-type portraits of people who represent either wealth, power, or fame.

Possibility of multiple endings?

I’m not sure on this one. It’s more of me spit-balling an idea, given the fact that we get to choose which path to take for the main questline. One of three paths. Which means something has to change from choosing one over the others, right?

Although going through the demo, it did seem like you could choose to do any questline for either one of the antagonists, no matter which path you choose, so perhaps only one ending after all.
