Explanation to Negative Feedback
No skips on puzzles
Some of those puzzles were just hard to do.
Not in the, there’s no way I can manage this because I don’t know how to do it, but just knowing that it’s going to take you a while to figure out how to get to the end result. I know people enjoy puzzles, but sometimes when they’re too taxing, a skip is appreciated.
Hidden object scenes are difficult
I’ve played a lot of HOGs in my time as a gamer, and I have come across some difficult scenes, but they were usually difficult because the name of the item they wanted me to find was stupid compared to the object, or it was just that well hidden.
This game’s HOG scenes are difficult because it’s all hand-drawn, and things are a bit different when someone draws them by hand.
They don’t always look the way they should.
At least to me.
And that was kind of my problem with some of the scenes. There aren’t a lot of them, the sole focus isn’t on the scenes, because you can find a lot of stuff outside in different areas or puzzles, but when they do show up, expect maybe a slight struggle.
Explanation to Positive Feedback
Puzzles provide a challenge
I’m happy that there’s a variety of them and they aren’t all simplistic, but they really do have either a learning curve or even an overly complicated way of being solved. The bull puzzle in particular I hated doing because I just couldn’t figure out how I was supposed to do it correctly.
Clearly, I got past it, but man was I wishing for a skip button, and I don’t normally wish for one of those on these kinds of games.
But if you get enjoyment from puzzle games that actually have a difficulty spike to them, and you also like point and clicks, then this game might be right up your alley.
Hand-drawn graphics
I appreciate that they hand-drew everything, and I don’t mean in pixel art, either. They just full on drew everything with sketchy detail to them, in color, and while this doesn’t technically work that well in hidden object scenes, due to the difficulty of finding a certain item drawn by hand, it’s an amazing overall piece of work.
I don’t think I’ve yet to play a HOG where everything was drawn by hand, but there’s a lot of them I haven’t yet played.
Most of them stick to their typical style of realism.
