Kaer Morhen Guide

Use your Witcher Senses to find the key to the bedroom door.

Kaer Morhen

You know something spicy was going on when you have to find a key to unlock yourself out of a bedroom with Yennefer. Honestly, you don’t really need to use your Witcher Senses if you don’t want to, but it’s part of the beginning tutorial. Without your Senses, the key will be sparkling on an open book on a desk.

With your Senses activated, you’re able to see a couple other things you can interact with and talk about, but nothing important.

You can’t even get a little more alone time with Yennefer if you speak with her again, though the options of dialogue can be amusing.

Go to the lower level.

After you pick up the key, go through the door that leads to the downward stairs in front of you. (In the screenshot, you can see the “open” text of the locked door.)

Talk to Ciri.

By heading downstairs, you automatically go into a cutscene with Vesemir, on how Ciri should’ve been studying with him, but since he fell asleep, she decided to go off and train by herself.

After your talk with Ciri, you’re left with a couple options on running the wall.

  • Of course.
  • Not this time.

By choosing of course, you allow a tutorial of basically running a little obstacle course around the wall to the main courtyard. You’ll learn to jump, climb, and run. Maybe some other stuff, but you’re racing Ciri, and…well it’s pretty easy to win. You are an experienced Witcher after all.

If you’ve played the game before, or don’t feel like a tutorial is necessary, then you should choose not this time.

Join Ciri in a run along the ramparts down to the lower courtyard.

You’ll be able to do this if you chose the tutorial choice.

Battle tutorial

  • Let’s start with the fundamentals.
  • Let’s go straight to free training.

I always have to do the fundamentals when starting a new game after a while of not touching it. Everything is so confusing to me in the Witcher combat. And if you’re like me, you’ll be choosing let’s start with the fundamentals. Trust me, if you’ve not played this game before, it’s something worth learning.

You’ll not only learn how to parry, dodge, and attack, but you’ll also learn the many signs you can do in combat–as well as throw bombs.

Once you’re done, with play-fighting with Vesemir, sheathe your sword.

Then again, if this ain’t your first Witchin’ rodeo, hop into the let’s go straight to free training section.
