I’m a Wizard, But I Dig (Demo) ★★★★☆
I’m a Wizard, But I Dig, because there’s something magical about digging.
Shorten your journey to the castle by digging a tunnel through the mountain. Use magic and craft: swing your pickaxe, cast spells, blow up obstacles, and light your path with glowing slimes. Trade resources with the Goose, unlock new tools, and uncover the mountain’s secrets.
- Gameplay: Constant loop of digging, selling, and upgrading tools
- Visual presentation: Cozy, fun, and playful graphics
Pros:
- We’re mixing tools and magic
Cons:
- No tutorial
- Needs more magic
- Our boss is a goose

Explanation to Negative Feedback
No tutorial
I don’t understand why some games don’t come with a tutorial. Especially something where tools are going to be involved and you’ll have to buy stuff from specific places and sell things.
You get nothing here.
Because of this, I didn’t know what the slime in the center of the room did–you buy slime-lights from it. I learned that from accidently spending coin on it. The goose is who you’ll be selling your goods to, and it’ll give you coin. Then there’s another vendor that I purchased from as well without knowing what I was getting.
That wouldn’t happen with a tutorial.
Or maybe it would.
But the biggest thing I couldn’t figure out, is where to dig. I’ve played two digging games, one of them being a demo, I think, but both of them went downward…since that’s usually how you dig. Down.
I couldn’t figure out where to dig, because we’re not digging down in this game. We’re digging through a stone wall.
Tutorial. Please.
Needs more magic
I love the idea that we’re a wizard and have decided to make some kind of living through digging, but I kind of wish there was more to the magical side of things. I get that it’s a demo right now, but maybe something magical with the picks, because that’s more man-made.
Using a man-made tool when we have magic at our disposal seems a little disgraceful to our magical heritage.
There are wands, and I like that, but maybe just expand more than just wand upgrades and picks.
I do like that the lights are actually slimes that glow, that’s a fun touch.
Our boss is a goose
Have you ever met a nice goose? Because I haven’t.
We have a ton of them at our work since there’s a pond there that people will fish in from time to time. All they do is argue with each other, get in the way of our cars, and poop in the parking lot. It’s unsanitary.
Now we have one as a boss, and it’s probably so haughty since it once shat out a golden egg, now it thinks it can make more money from us somehow.

We’re mixing tools and magic
The best part of the game, of course, is that it’s going a bit beyond your typical digging games and instead of us being a human, we’re a wizard. We have magic at our fingertips. We can use the basic pickaxe, sure, but we’ve also got wands we can upgrade.
The lights are slimes that stick to cave walls, though I hate that you can break them by accidently striking them with your tool.
Then we have a talking goose as a boss.
Maybe the only odd thing here is a beaver that sells planks, and it’s weird that that’s the weirdest thing I notice.
