Glass Masquerade – Halloween DLC Review ★★★☆☆

Glass Masquerade – Halloween DLC, puzzles that are spooky and pretty to look at.

  • Gameplay: Jigsaw puzzles
  • Visual presentation: Stained glass art
  • Audio/Soundtrack: Soft sort of whimsical music to relax to with chimes on puzzle placement and whirls of picking up pieces

Pros:

  • 5 extra puzzles
  • Fairly difficult

Cons:

  • Black sections on the board
  • Same soundtrack

Explanation to Negative Feedback

Black sections on the board

Glass Masquerade - Halloween DLC Review

I hate that some of these puzzles have black parts to them.

The background of the board is black, so while you work on these puzzles and see the black sections, you’re going to think that the black is the background, and so you’re searching for these puzzle pieces to these sections that don’t exist.

It’s really annoying to constantly be searching for something that isn’t required.

Same soundtrack

Come on now, we’re doing a Halloween DLC over here, and I understand wanting to kind of keep to the whimsiness of the background music…but make it a little creepy. A little haunting.

It doesn’t have to be unsettling, but why keep to the same soundtrack as the base game for a DLC that’s part of a spooky holiday?

5 extra puzzles

Glass Masquerade - Halloween DLC Review

They didn’t have to give us a holiday-themed DLC in the first place, but to give us five different areas featuring Halloween themes was appreciated. And I like that they’re not just your generic pumpkins and witches.

There’s still those, but there’s more, depending on location.

Fairly difficult

I appreciate the fact that these puzzles have a bit more difficulty to them compared to the base game.

At least, that’s how they were to me.

Sure, they’re not going to give you thirty minutes worth of trouble with finding what piece goes where, but, there’s still the hesitancy of not knowing where some of these funky pieces go.
