City Legends: Trapped in Mirror Collector’s Edition, more like I’m trapped in these puzzle scenarios.
This is a story regarding Mary–as in Bloody Mary, which I think is cool because her legend is pretty well known and how to summon her and stuff. This game of course puts more of a different story to her tale and that’s fine.
It’s still Bloody Mary.
Pros:
- In-game guide
- HOG scenes provide easy mode
Cons:
- Choices?
- Don’t start with hardcore
- Puzzle instructions are bad

Choices?
There are a few different moments in the game where you’re given choices on what you want to do, and it’s a little weird to me, because I chose the appropriate action I feel in completing more chunks to the game. Otherwise, it seems like the other choice you make means you skip a portion of the game by not doing what they think you should.
And I don’t know how that plays out in the end.
Does making specific choices mean the game is probably shorter and leaves out filler content? Does helping the character just prolong the game a bit more?
Like, what’s the point?
If it’s in the game then make it stay in the game. If people don’t like the game they can just exit out of it. No need to give them the option for a shorter stay.
It also looks like you won’t be able to choose a certain option if you don’t have the acquired item for it? Such as the option with Bloody Mary in the fridge needing a gemstone.
Don’t start with hardcore
Uh, yeah, despite at the beginning of the game, you get the hint button, if you try to use it, you won’t be able to. The character thinks she’s too smart for it which is absurd, but hey, it’s hardcore mode. This also means that you won’t be getting a skip button for puzzles.
Good luck on some of those.
And looking back on it, I know it says they’ll be disabled, but I don’t think I’ve played a hard mode game that didn’t allow at least one or the other, if not a slower recharge.
If you do get stuck, at least there’s a guide you’re able to look at.
Puzzle instructions are bad
Some of the puzzles in this game were the absolute worst, and they made me wish I could use my skip button more than once. I don’t think they’d be as terrible as they were if they had better instructions on what to do, otherwise I was just pushing buttons to push button and get the puzzle over with.
I’m pretty sure I had to resort to looking up a walkthrough on YouTube in order to get through areas.
Don’t get me wrong, a lot of the puzzles were simple to understand, but others…yikes.

In-game guide
Well thank god for an in-game guide if you start out with hardcore difficulty like I did. I’m not sure if I used it on one of the puzzles I couldn’t figure out, because it literally made no sense in the end, but I know I used it for another puzzle, I’m pretty sure.
They’re also good if you can’t find an item.
I don’t really ever use these honestly, but this game just couldn’t be done without help for me.
HOG scenes provide easy mode
There are some HOGs out there that’ll let you do something else in hidden object scenes if you don’t actually want to find the items for one reason or another. While sometimes it’s mahjong, in this game it’s match-3, and you basically just have to match icons up on the pale squares until there are no more pale squares, then you get the item required.
On my first playthrough, I did not do any of the HOG scenes, I only did the match-3 games, so I don’t know how the scenes compare to other HOGs out there.
