Chapter II – The Strangers is the second part of a walkthrough for the game A Plague Tale: Innocence, following Chapter I – The de Rune Legacy.

The Strangers

Up ahead there’s a small marketplace that’s apparently been abandoned. Also, there’s a path before you get to the carts of food on the right that’ll take you to the docks with a collectible of Amulets and Talismans.

Continue into town and Amicia will mention smoke in the distance.

Keep going forward until you’re met with a path that splits. Go right and you’ll come across a bridge. Over the bridge, make the first right and go around the building to find the Soap collectible sitting on a bench.

Leave the area and take a right, following the street until you start seeing houses marked by white Xs.

After Hugo almost contaminates himself with the plague by getting too close to the door, progress a little forward until you see a crossed out door on the right. In this direction, there’s going to be a tree on the left side. Grab an apple for Hugo.

Continue on the path you were going with all the infected houses. You’ll eventually come across a somewhat gruesome cutscene.

Escape the villagers

Afterwards, you’ll need to run. Make sure to pay attention, because I’ve accidentally ran into a group of mobs instead of taking a left turn. You’ll find shelter in a house.

Throw a rock at the pans and wait for the man to have his back to you before you sneak past him and back outside. You’ll be spotted again and need to run to the path on the right. Past the hanging laundry, there’s a crumbling wall on the left you can climb over.

This leads you to a shed where you can move a large crate over to the wall in order to climb up it. On the second floor, use your slingshot to shoot down the hanging crate, then move it to the open window in order to go outside once again.

As you go along the path, a jerk of a woman calls out about you being an intruder. Rush ahead where there’s a ladder. Only Hugo can climb it, as it breaks once he’s up. Turn left and jump over the wall.

Look up and use your sling to drop the crate. Hugo pushes it over the ledge for you to climb.

Luckily you don’t get caught this time around, but crouch and move ahead where two enemies are. Once they separate, throw a rock at the pans. After his back is turned, walk the left side and enter the flower field close to the other guy.

Grab a pot and throw toward the right side in the fenced area. Even as you go by him, you’ll eventually be spotted ahead.

Run until you’re met with a door and interact with it. Go through the house and leave the back way. The door’s locked, so have Hugo go through the window and open the door for you before you’re caught. Keep running ahead until you come across a slaughtered pig–go right and it’s a dead end.

Except a nice lady will open her door for you. Go inside.

Take the clothes from the chest on the upper floor

The Strangers

Go upstairs and on the dresser is the Incense and Herbs collectible. Grab it, then root around the chest for some warm clothes.

Talk to the old lady

The old lady has a name: Clervie. But you won’t know that until you actually speak with her. With nothing else to do, go downstairs for a cutscene.

Take the tools from near the workbench and the leather from the backyard

Really precise description on what you need to do in this section.

The tools are on top of the barrel beside the workbench. The leather is right outside the door to the left, sitting on top of a stack of…blankets? I guess? Afterwards, interact with the bench to repair your sling.

Talk to the old lady

Did the game forget her name already? Geez…go back out to where she’s sitting for a cutscene, basically.

Follow and protect Hugo

Are you getting tired of him running off yet? Because boy I am.

It’s a pretty linear path you’re following. While Hugo can crawl under a variety of things, you’ll need to take the time to jump over small walls. Eventually Hugo will be caught and you’ll need to use your sling on the man’s head in order to kill him.

Hugo runs off again and gets captured again.

Jump over the wall for a boss fight.

  • Sling rocks at his armor plates when he pauses a moment.
  • He’s slow at first, but gets faster with less armor.
  • Dodge to the right, otherwise he might hit you with his weapon.
  • One hit will kill you.
  • At his fastest, let him in close and dodge away before he attacks so he can tire out.

There you go. You killed your second person.
