Bruises are a visual symptom in the game Quarantine Zone. The bruising on a survivor will have lighter colorations to others.

Bruises
I suppose the bruising on a survivor could be misinterpreted as dirt sometimes, but the core features of it will be a yellow discoloration along with portions of darker bits, indicating the underlying damage beneath the skin.
If it helps, upping the brightness may make these visuals a bit easier to decipher. Especially if you think dirt might be a bruise or vice versa.
An upgrade to the scanner will help with the dirt issue. Just remind yourself that the other bruise types are going to be much darker than a regular bruise.
