I, Nicholas Doolan, am lost. I do not appreciate the feeling. Thickskin ought to be here, but she is not. Perhaps we have taken the wrong road and we are on the Devil’s path to the dark interior, out beyond the frontier. But I do not think so. My instinct says we are close to the meeting point. Very close.
But the wolves are closer, and I must rest.
I wonder if this means that they’ve already used their whistles at least once? This journal comes right after the scene of Thickskin handing the settlers a whistle and telling them to use it if they’re in need of assistance, so maybe that’s a sign of what happened with the wolves being so close?
Also, I believe Doolan is the one who’s better with a gun, right? Was that not mentioned somewhere before?
So if the wolves take him down, then they’re all screwed. If that’s the case.
