Alone in the Dark Prologue, a brief glimpse of something you don’t want to be alone in the dark with.

Never heard of the game, but I saw the trailer for it and heard the game devs talking about what it’s about and all that, and it fascinated me. Plus, Hopper from Stranger Things is one of the characters, and I just can’t pass it up at that point.

But the prologue I’ve found out…is more of a nibble of an appetizer.

Super short

This is the worst part of the game. I get that it’s a prologue and sets up for the main game, but I know I’m not the only one wishing it could’ve been longer. If there could’ve been more to it. And I think there could’ve been, as some parts posed questions without answers.

Explanation to Positive Feedback

Amazing setup

I’ve never played the first game–never even heard of it, and as someone coming in with a fresh mind, anyone who says they don’t want to continue after the prologue ends would be crazy. It’s so good, it’s just also so short.

Interesting creature designs

We only get to see two of the creatures that are part of the game, but damn they’re cool. One of them seems to be a crocodile type of creature that lives in the water and can come on land, but the other one…the other one sort of reminds me of the monster in The Medium, except maybe a bit more bug-like and scarier.

Alone in the Dark Prologue Review

TL;DR Review

You know, I almost hesitate to say it, but this portion of the game kind of reminds me of a walking simulator, more or less. There’s no action or real sense of adventure to it, but only because the game is so damn short of a tease. I mean really, you only pick up a key as you make your way to the mail room. That’s…essentially a walking simulator.

And I don’t know if they were holding back on explaining stuff for the full game’s release, but there are parts where I really wish I had something more to go on.

Like when the lights go off and Grace asks what Jeremy’s done, after all the statues shift positions.

What does that even mean?

Then the water part where the crocodile-like creature comes out of the water the first time, she doesn’t seem all that surprised. Which means she obviously knows what these creatures are and that they do live in their home, and it just makes me wish they made the game just a bit longer with some details on the gaps.

But the amazing part of this game is the atmosphere. They nailed the creepy vibe while also making it seem normal to Grace, which adds in the fascination for more factor.

Personally, I can’t wait for the full game to come out.
