The Athenian Leader is a mission in The Wolf Hunt you’ll get in Assassin’s Creed Odyssey within the area of Megaris.

Find and kill the Athenian Leader of Megaris
At first, the Megaris leader will be in his little fortress, surrounded by guards who will kill your ass if you dare go there when the Nation Power is not weakened enough.
Which means you’ll need to do a few things before you confront them.
One of the places you can go to is Fort Geraneia to the west. In my Megaris guide, I actually come here first before I initiate the cutscene for taking over the nation. Once you clear that area out, another location you can hit up is Port of Nisaia to the southeast. Doing things between these two places (because there’s a pretty big freaking gap between them), you should weaken the Nation Power a good amount.
As far as Fort Geraneia goes, this is how I went about it:
- Approach from the front side and whistle for stragglers to come into the grass for assassination.
- Go along the top of the outer walls, killing people one by one while staying behind cover.
- Go across the ropes and lay a trap on the bonfire, in case someone sees me and wants to call for help.
- Pick the rest of the weak people off one by one via assassination.
- Initiate battle with stronger opponents.
In the same place, you’ll also be able to complete the side mission, The Athenian Treasure Trove, which will grant a huge spike in decreasing the Nation Power. You should also be close to completing One Man Army.
Once the Nation Power is decreased enough, the Leader will isolate themselves and no longer be in the Leader House. Instead, he’ll be outside the area, though there will still be guards around him. It just won’t be that much of a big deal as it would be if you’d go straight for him at the start.
Note that killing him out in public along with his guards means there will be bounties put on your head and mercenaries will pile up on you. I had three of them on me at once.
