Yard Sale, they’re going to need a lot of yard sales to make enough money to move.
I saw this was a hidden object game and was interested in playing it since it wasn’t the usual ones that I play. It was more catered to a wider audience than someone who needs to know what a lot of words are and have to work out what to grab and use throughout your typical HOG.
This game was on my DNF (Did Not Finish) list.

Became monotonous and boring
After hitting an hour of gameplay, I just became so bored of what this game had to offer, which wasn’t much honestly. It was the same type of games over and over again just with different scenes, so you sort of knew what you were getting into as soon as you completed one of the games.
There’s really nothing else to look forward to after you’ve acquired all the items from digging.
The game doesn’t tell you how much money you’ve accumulated, that I know of, and how much money is needed for their vacation, which I feel is kind of crucial here, as it’s the whole point of the game, otherwise you’re just playing and playing with no end in sight.
That’s what burnt me out.
If they want to move to Paris, they’re going to need a ton of money, and if the amount of money you get for completing the hidden object scenes is only about 350, let’s say, then you’re going to be going through these hidden objects scenes for freaking ever.
And I wasn’t okay with that.
Hidden object items hard to see
Personally, I enjoy hidden object scenes and trying to find the items specified. Not the ones where you have to click in an exact spot, or they screw you over with vague item names, but I enjoy the rest.
But Yard Sale has kind of ridiculous scenes.
The items you’re looking for don’t necessarily blend into the environment that you might be used to if you play HOGs, instead the items are miniature look-alikes of what you’re looking for. And because they’re miniature items, it’s hard to see what some of them are unless you get closer to the screen and maybe even squint.
And if you have to move close to a screen just to figure out what an item is because it isn’t big enough to see otherwise, it’s a bad HOG scene.
And there are many, many of these scenes.
Puzzle scene background needs to be more transparent
In some puzzle scenes, you have the entire scene laid out for you in a transparent way, that way it makes it easier to know where to put the pieces of the puzzle. This is one of the reasons this game is more for all ages instead of a specific age group–though item names in HOG scenes may be difficult for younger ages.
But because the background scene for the puzzle isn’t too transparent, it’s kind of hard to tell which puzzle piece is already on an area and what piece still needs filled in.
Why are we hoarding shovels?
One of the things you’re capable of obtaining in Yard Sale are shovels, which are rewarded for finishing certain mini-games. With these puzzles you’re able to dig up grass areas in order to find a variety of items.
I was thinking after finding all these items, that the game will be finished soon, but I was wrong.
Not only did the game continue, but we also continue to obtain shovels, even after getting rid of all the grass blocks, so my question is why am I hoarding shovels when I have absolutely no use for them anymore?

Different mini-games and puzzles
One of the things I did like regarding this game, and I do mean it’s basically the one and only good thing I liked about it, is that it splits up different mini-games and puzzles that you do throughout. Now they’re all in a specific order, so it’s kind of like you finish a hidden object scene, then you go to a spot the difference game, and then a puzzle that you have to piece together, follow by a certain amount of a specific item in a scene.
After that, it all repeats itself.
Though the puzzles will switch from putting the pieces onto the board, to rotating the pieces in their spot to complete the full image, to moving the blocks of images to their specific spot on the board.
So I’m kind of happy they do switch things up every now and then with what you’re doing.
