Solid Stone is an item you’ll be getting from mining Mithril Ore, and it’s not an item I actively sought after or even actively farmed until making these guides. Whenever I got this stone, I’d just toss it up on the AH, since I never had a corresponding profession to deal with them.

Q&A

What are your PC specs?

What addons are used for farming Solid Stone in WoW?

Is this a Solid Stone Mining route for Classic WoW?

No. I play retail, not Classic World of Warcraft, so these routes might not be the ones for you to go by.

In case they aren’t, you might want to check out VanillaGuides, as they might have updated Mining routes for Classic. I bet Thousand Needles wasn’t near as bad in the past. I was there back then, but I honestly can’t remember it.

What professions benefit from Mining?

First off, Mining, because you can’t exactly mine without said profession to begin with. Though you can still possibly acquire the stone through other means–such as treasures and chests you pick up while fishing, and mining mobs you kill.

Want more out of the Mining profession? I’ve made a separate page regarding (mostly) everything about the profession in my In-Depth Mining Guide for WoW. If you need a quick location for the best of a specific ore, you might find it there.

There are a few secondary professions that can benefit from having Solid Stone, specifically.

  • Blacksmithing
  • Engineering

Blacksmithing is good for crafting things to increase your weapon damage, but also a reagent for another profession to use.

Engineering specifically crafts an Engineering reagent.

What Mining routes aren’t mentioned?

There’s only one zone that you can’t get a good amount of Mithril or Solid Stone in while farming the route in question, but every other one is good to go.

Dismissed Zones

  • Searing Gorge
This zone can net you a decent chunk of stone, but not as a standalone mining route, therefore it can only be found as an herb/mining combo route in my In-Depth Farming Guide.

What else can you get from mining Solid Stone?

You have a chance of gathering Aquamarine, Black Vitriol, Citrine, and Star Ruby.

Where do the links take you?

If there’s an icon and a pop-up showing on the link, then you’ll be taken to WoWHead for more information on the item in question. For every other link, they’ll either take you to a specific page on this site for information I’ve acquired on said item, or they’ll send you to an outside page, which I’ll typically note when linked.

Maps, Routes, and Data

The routes in this section offer you full view of the maps in question, at a reduced resolution of 1280×720. In order to get the full resolution of 2560×1440, you’ll need to purchase my In-Depth Farming Guide. It offers a variety of routes for each zone, with all the data I’ve accumulated over the years of farming.
  • Solid Stone comes from Mithril Ore nodes, thus the routes section is the same as the Mithril Ore post.
  • My miner is a Horde druid, thus giving faster in-and-out flight form.
  • Overall farming time per zone: 30 minutes.

Eastern Kingdoms

Badlands

Solid Stone Route in Badlands

I tried slimming the route down by dismissing the right side of the zone, but as a druid, the respawn for the nodes couldn’t keep up with me. No big loss though, more like a win. More chances to get Gold along with your Mithril and stone.

  • Solid Stone – 412
Burning Steppes

Solid Stone Route in Burning Steppes

You get a ton of ore from this place, so it’s super good if you need a ton of Mithril (with stone), some Truesilver, and not to mention an arrangement of gems. The only thing you need to look out for is getting near a few horde NPCs as well as a small alliance campsite.

  • Solid Stone – 528
Eastern Plaguelands

Solid Stone Route in Eastern Plaguelands

I’m not a big fan of farming ore in this zone. Sometimes there’s a dry spell in the route and it makes me wonder if the respawn is a bit behind me, but then the nodes start appearing. So if you’re a druid, make sure you grab every mining node you see, even the couple that might be in a cave.

  • Solid Stone – 292

Kalimdor

Felwood

Solid Stone Farming in Felwood

This route is pretty simplistic with the fact that you just have to stay around the border of the zone to get enough ore to fill your bags. You fly close to a horde area, so alliance need to be careful. You get pretty close to an alliance location as well, but it’s not much to worry about.

  • Solid Stone – 460
Tanaris

Solid Stone Route in Tanaris

It’s such a desolate zone to do any kind of farming in, really, so don’t expect a fun time. But, it does offer a nice stash of ore from the entire route. Even if the nodes are kind of a good distance apart, leaving you with longer empty moments of flight.

  • Solid Stone – 206
Thousand Needles

Solid Stone Route in Thousand Needles

Mining in this place is even more brutal than picking herbs. Probably because it takes longer to mine a node than pick an herb. Still, it’s a good place for Mithril, if you don’t mind deep-diving.

  • Solid Stone – 293

Thanks for reading!

Holy crap, you made it to the end of the page. And hopefully you gained a lot more knowledge than you initially had before coming here. And on that note, I thank you for even choosing this page to read in regards to everything related to farming Solid Stone.

If this page did help you, I’d love it if you actually voted in the top section. It helps me know if a page is basically good to go or needs a bit more touching up.

And to end it, if you haven’t checked out my In-Depth Mining page, you probably should, since you apparently have the profession. It’s got a whole lot more info on it than just this little ol’ Solid Stone page. Not only that, but think about buying my In-Depth Farming Guide for World of Warcraft–it features tons of routes for all kinds of zones, and it’s a one-time payment for information I’ve been acquiring for years.
