We're coming into our third episode here and it's with an older walking simulator called Drizzlepath. Not the prettiest game these days, but I wanted to give it a little review and shout-out. ---------------------------- We're on Spotify: Not Now Mom, I'm Gaming Our website: tgexp.com Feel free to e-mail us: podcast (at) tgexp.com

hello everyone and welcome to the third
0:03
episode of not now Mom I'm
0:06
[Music]
0:27
gaming all right my name is k and I will
0:30
be your host and this episode is a
0:34
review of drizzle path I stated before
0:37
in the last episode episode two that I
0:40
wanted to do kind of game reviews on
0:43
this
0:44
podcast and this is going to be one of
0:47
the shorter ones because this this game
0:50
is about I'd say 30 minutes maybe less
0:54
depending if you wander around in it or
0:56
just stick to the straight path and I
0:58
don't really know how how short some of
1:01
these podcast episodes will be cuz some
1:03
of these games are rather short I might
1:05
combine them into one podcast episode
1:08
but I don't know just yet we'll see I'm
1:10
going to try to not like take a month
1:14
between each episode unless I'm working
1:17
on a really long game such as my time at
1:20
Sandrock that is such a long game I'm
1:24
afraid the review is going to be like
1:26
holy
1:28
long
1:30
oh well we'll see how it goes but for
1:32
this episode we're talking about drizzle
1:34
path the short blurb of this game is and
1:38
drizzle path you were set on a journey
1:40
to the top of the Mountain of Fire it
1:43
aims to be an atmospheric relaxed and
1:45
enigmatic experience drizzle bath is in
1:49
all sense of the words a walking
1:52
simulator as such I don't really
1:54
understand why people hate on it for
1:55
being exactly what the genre says it to
1:57
be and if you don't know what what a
2:00
walk-in simulator is well let's take a
2:02
look at some other games of the like
2:05
such as power wash simulator Thief
2:07
simulator lawnmowing simulator and even
2:10
Surgeon Simulator they all simulate a
2:13
certain thing and so a walking simulator
2:16
simulates
2:18
walking You Walk and Walk and Walk and
2:21
Walk granted walking simulators these
2:24
days grant us a lot more than drizzle
2:26
pass does and that's because it's meant
2:29
to be a relaxing hike in nature up to
2:32
the mountain tops there's nothing to
2:34
read along the way nothing to interact
2:36
with you just sighty as you make your
2:39
way to your destination in mind but
2:41
since the game is so old we're talking
2:44
2015 here and the first game of one
2:47
single developer it's not as pretty as
2:50
it used to be when it first came out
2:52
which was sort of on the precipice of
2:55
amazing kind of hard to imagine when
2:57
you're going back to it these days is
2:58
there's lag to it now and not all
3:00
resolutions are your friend and can
3:02
cause the game to crash as I learned
3:05
several times I had to go to the
3:08
discussions Board of this game and
3:10
figure out how to play it cuz it just it
3:14
kept crashing on me I had to minimize it
3:17
or something it was it was weird or at
3:19
least do it in a specific resolution in
3:22
Window mode maybe I can't remember also
3:25
before I get further into this I
3:27
apologize for any background noise you
3:30
hear my parents are watching the
3:31
football game so if you hear yelling or
3:36
cheering and that would be them
3:38
depending on how the game is going but
3:40
anyway nowadays when someone says
3:43
walking simulator you might think of the
3:45
game death stranding which crushes this
3:47
one in terms of environmental Beauty in
3:51
fact a lot of the negative reviews
3:52
compare this game to both Dear Esther
3:55
which I haven't played as of this review
3:57
so I can't compare it as as well as gone
4:00
home which I have played and this game
4:03
is vastly different from that one while
4:05
gone home focuses on story what happened
4:08
by reading different things in a house
4:10
drizzle path story is
4:14
non-existent it's a hike out in nature
4:17
in which case a story doesn't have to
4:19
exist it's a bad comparison despite all
4:22
this it is a nostalgic game that
4:24
represents the beauty of a Time long
4:26
past when you first enter the game
4:29
you're under water you don't have to
4:31
worry about staying under too long and
4:32
running out of air as this is a game
4:35
that's more about taking everything in
4:37
rather than struggling with something
4:39
you might not have air funnily enough
4:42
though you can't die while submerged
4:45
there is fall damage and there aren't
4:48
any invisible walls to stop you from
4:49
walking off the edge of a cliff further
4:51
in the game therefore despite it being a
4:54
relaxing game there's no other way of
4:56
dying there's always a risk of falling
4:58
off a cliff if you're not careful
5:00
just you know don't look down when you
5:03
emerge from the water and start walking
5:05
there's an unfortunate headbob mechanic
5:07
without any proper settings that today's
5:09
games have the headbob that occurs while
5:11
you walk May aggravate those that get
5:13
motion sickness or Si on headaches
5:15
easily such as myself honestly I didn't
5:18
find it too terrible but it's there
5:22
while that's noticeable you might also
5:24
notice the lack of something as you
5:25
progress through this open World
5:28
Wildlife where on Earth is the wildlife
5:31
in this game when you're near water you
5:33
might be able to see turtles lobsters
5:35
and frogs but no fish which is probably
5:38
the most weird about the water besides
5:42
you being able to breathe it for an
5:43
infinite amount of time there also
5:45
moments you might disturb a flock of
5:47
birds but aside from that there are no
5:49
birds in the sky there are no rabbits no
5:51
deer nothing I don't understand why
5:55
considering there are dilapidated
5:57
buildings meaning nobody's been out here
5:59
in a long long while we should make it
6:01
right for wildli looking scavenge for
6:03
place to hide not so much deer but
6:05
smaller Critters maybe maybe they
6:07
thought they'd be too dangerous for a
6:08
lone hiker and decide if we go adding
6:10
them to the game that makes the most
6:12
sense it's still really weird and lonely
6:15
as you progress there are two things you
6:17
won't know until you either press the
6:18
appropriate button or get to a certain
6:20
point which are the jump mechanic as
6:23
well as Crouch you won't be using Crouch
6:25
for anything specific in the game I
6:28
personally used it when I went to
6:29
capture a screenshot and wanted a
6:31
certain angle jump however is a mechanic
6:34
you'll use once toward the end of the
6:36
path don't worry the game will tell you
6:38
when that time comes as I said I do
6:41
enjoy using crouch in order to get some
6:43
nicer looking screenshots it's one of
6:45
the things you can take advantage of
6:46
when playing a walking simulator based
6:48
outside nothing to interact with get
6:51
some good shots in then make it fun
6:54
you're outside you got scenery it's
6:56
quiet you've got a camera in the form of
6:58
a screenshot button so so use it the
7:00
quietness of the game was something that
7:02
probably annoyed me the most because the
7:04
soundtrack When You Reach certain
7:05
checkpoints is so nice to listen to and
7:09
a dral path on more of it it really
7:11
would have made the game a lot better
7:13
even if nature doesn't include music
7:15
unless you got headphones on which could
7:17
be a possibility or there's a bar
7:19
following you or something I mean
7:21
submerging yourself with headphones on
7:23
probably isn't ideal so B it is but I'll
7:27
let you listen to one of the piece of
7:29
the
7:31
[Music]
7:58
soundtrack
8:00
[Music]
8:33
along with a short burst of music
8:35
there's also a woman narrating though
8:37
you probably won't be able to understand
8:38
what the woman is saying all the time as
8:41
she has a thick accent and there were no
8:43
subtitles added to the game the
8:46
developer also mentioned that he
8:47
couldn't Implement them into the game
8:49
after its release I guess due to the
8:51
engine they used to create it now what
8:54
you could probably decipher what she
8:55
said if she were talking normally you'll
8:58
notice that she also talks and riddles a
9:00
kind of poetic speech every time a
9:02
checkpoint happens and only when you
9:04
come across a checkpoint here's one of
9:07
the sections in which she talks now that
9:10
I've seen the Imperial waves I'd like to
9:13
say he stayed on top and made me feel
9:16
like a fool until the next
9:18
morning which might as well never come
9:21
and stop the decay of your cold blood
9:25
[Music]
9:28
stains could I have been lied to were
9:31
both the gas mask and the trash can
9:34
really
9:36
necessary all he really wanted was the
9:40
right female
9:40
[Music]
9:46
Bo we didn't need no
9:49
competition no magic trick to dle my
9:52
path as it will soon reach the heavens
9:55
so your son's unextended life can be
9:58
felt in your family cocktail
10:01
[Music]
10:09
[Music]
10:10
party don't cry till the candles blow up
10:14
your cream some
10:16
face going back to the environment one
10:18
of the reasons it's not as nice looking
10:20
as some of the games is today is there's
10:22
not a whole lot of foliage and the
10:24
mountains in the distance aren't
10:26
detailed they're smooth and without
10:27
texture since do not close enough to
10:29
actually see any texture to them I guess
10:32
the trees are more repetitive in their
10:33
looks and the flowers are all the same
10:35
and small patches here and there it's
10:37
just a whole lot of grass without a lot
10:39
of other things to attract your
10:40
attention aside from a single statue a
10:42
dilapidated ruin and a few old houses
10:46
here and there speaking of the houses
10:49
there was one negative review that
10:51
mentioned they weren't able to go into
10:55
any of the houses now when you approach
10:58
them they have Windows that you can look
11:01
into there's not an actual window there
11:04
but a cutout and there's nothing in
11:06
there so how on Earth are you going to
11:09
complain about not being able to enter
11:12
an empty house with nothing in there
11:15
literally nothing that has to be one of
11:17
the stupidest complaints you could make
11:20
I'm just saying once you get up into the
11:23
mountains the environment becomes even
11:24
more abandoned by nature which is
11:26
natural because there's not much on an
11:28
actual snow Mountain unless there's a
11:29
body lying in your path even looking at
11:32
where the distance isn't breathtaking in
11:34
this game though when you progress a
11:36
certain point up along the mountain
11:37
there are markers with candles in them
11:40
here and there I don't know for sure but
11:42
I wonder if the candles are lit when
11:43
someone has walked the path to show that
11:45
there are people somewhere up ahead
11:48
otherwise the lights would have burn out
11:50
right is this an actual thing even
11:52
further ahead the environment changes to
11:54
a bright sunny day to dark and forbiding
11:56
with drizzles hence the name turning
11:59
into snow flurries the path gets thinner
12:01
so you'll need to be a bit more careful
12:03
as to not step over the cliff and fall
12:05
by accident it's at this point that
12:08
you'll be prompted to jump somewhere
12:10
along the lines eventually you'll get to
12:13
a small t to the very top with your
12:15
friends it's a game that's less than an
12:17
hour long especially we're not doing
12:19
much by sticking to the paath and the
12:20
start to the end and it's not the
12:22
prettiest but it is fun to try and
12:25
capture nice looking screenshots that
12:27
capture the beauty of a game that was
12:29
once so realistic looking and that marks
12:33
the end of our drizzle path
12:36
review it's a very short podcast episode
12:40
there is a drizzle path remake that they
12:44
did I believe it's called drizzle path
12:47
Deja Vu and I could review that one on
12:50
the end of this one but we're going to
12:53
keep it at a short episode here so some
12:56
interested in PE if people want to just
12:59
listen to a review about a single game
13:01
or if they would want multiples of them
13:04
in an episode to make the episode longer
13:06
keep in mind there are people listening
13:08
to this either on Spotify which doesn't
13:11
have a video to it as well as YouTube
13:13
which does have a video to it so I guess
13:16
it depends on the people who's watching
13:19
what who's listening to what but yeah
13:22
we'll end this episode right here so
13:26
actually before we end it I'm really bad
13:27
at asking you guys questions
13:29
at the end of podcast and such if anyone
13:32
has their own game that they've played a
13:35
long time ago that they still kind of
13:38
like but it just didn't age well at all
13:40
feel free to email me that mentioned the
13:44
game uh what you like about it why it
13:46
doesn't hold up the stay and age the
13:50
podcast email is in the description if
13:53
you do so choose to respond and now
13:56
we're ending the episode thank you guys
13:59
for listening for watching and don't get
14:02
in too much trouble when you say not now
