New Horizons is part of Chapter 1, The Fall of the House of Tildrum in Ni No Kuni 2: Revenant Kingdom.
Some games start out with a bang, but Ni No Kuni 2 is serious about its bang. I mean, it’s on a nuclear level, for crying out loud.
Like explosive things? Etsy has a mushroom cloud explosion lamp, if you prefer to choose lighting that’s a bit more out of the ordinary. |
You start out as the President in a limousine heading somewhere we can only assume as a place of important business. Don’t worry, when things go awry and the shock-waves hit the cars, the President doesn’t die. He’s merely…teleported to an alternate dimension.
It makes me wonder why he was teleported though? Was there a specific trigger for it? Is there an actual reason he was chosen, at this point in time? I never played the first game, so I don’t really know of the ins an outs of the world of Ni No Kuni. I don’t even know if the game itself even has a good reason other than why not.
That type of reasoning annoys me.
The president winds up in the bedroom of a young king, Evan Pettywhisker Tildrum. After much confusion as to where he is, why he looks like his younger self, and what might be going on, he introduces himself as Roland.
Here’s to, y’know, new horizons.
Head downstairs and see what’s going on!
Go down the steps, as it’s the only way you can go at this point. The game will give you small tips on how to play that game–like looking around or moving your character. I personally had to lower my sensitivity because my camera was a bit psychotic when I wanted to turn it a little bit.
On a more serious gaming note regarding cameras, Amazon sell a Sony a7R, used by many YouTubers and vloggers. |
You’ll also notice that the characters don’t always have voiceovers for everything they say, and sometimes the textbox comes and goes–a little too quickly at times.
At the bottom of the steps, there’s a cutscene.
Defeat the soldiers who have come for the little boy!
Once it’s over, you’re going to be forced into your first battle. At the start, you’ll learn how to fight enemies, with both light and heavy attacks. Other small hints appear on the left as well, so look at them if you can, just don’t get too distracted.
After they’re dead, another cutscene will happen, and you’ll learn of the tragic fate of King Leonhard.
