Heretic Hunt is a side mission of the game Greedfall, falling under the category of Before the Departure. You obtain it after speaking with Cardinal Antonius in The Great Departure.

Heretic Hunt Guide

Find the smuggler

Speak to Captain Vasco.

  • Ask about the heretics.

You’ll either speak with the smuggler, or speak to the heretics directly.

Interrogate the smuggler about the heretics

Head to the jail and speak with the smuggler. You can either head in the back way by jumping the fence and entering that way, or you can wear something like Sailor’s Coat for the guards to ignore your presence.

Disguise yourself as a Naut

If you have Lockpicking, some of the Naut clothing may be in chests you’ve opened (or in unlocked chests!). There’s also a chance that enemies will drop a torso piece you need.

If all else fails, a vendor may sell one to you.

Free the smuggler

You’re going to need Lockpicking (level 1) or have the Key to the Serene Harbour Jails on you. You’ll find the key on an enemy corpse (And possibly laying somewhere out in the open/in a chest?)

Go and see the heretics in their hideout

If you’ve already done Coin Guard Merchandise, then I suppose you either know what to do, or won’t have guards to deal with. If you haven’t already done that quest, then here’s a recap:

Head to the warehouse (upper right on the map), and…

  • Wear a “torso” piece with the emblem of black background or blue.
  • Stealth/assassinate unseen
  • Fight (Nauts Reputation: -1)

The heretics are on the second floor.

  • Choose all of the first options from “ask about”.
    1. Proceed with their arrest. (Fight them)
    2. Propose to speak to the Bridge Alliance Ambassador.*
    3. Let them be on their way.

Option 1: 
Speak to Cardinal Antonius.
Report the deaths of the heretics. (Theleme Reputation: +3 and 50 coins)

Option 2:
*You’ll need to have completed The Charlatan before you can finish with this step!
Speak to Ambassador Sahin.
Ask for help for the historians. (80 coins)

Option 3:
Speak to Cardinal Antonius.
Report the escape of the heretics.

  1. Tell the truth. (Theleme Reputation: -1)
  2. Lie. (Theleme Reputation: +1)

Inform the Theleme ambassador

Speak with Cardinal Antonius.

  • Report the escape of the heretics.
