A Letter Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden

Susannah,

It’s been days since we ate. Each day the town empties further. Folk would sooner risk the cold than stay. The minister said help was on its way, but I do not know how much time we have left. Or how much time before the next sickness takes us all.

I shall entrust my neighbor with this letter in the hope that it will reach you. If nothing changes, I’ll try to cross the woods myself. I hear folk assemble bands, the better to safely brave the wilderness.

May God help us.

Sarah

Is it a surprise that people would rather risk the cold and whatever lies in the woods than stay in town when it’s so low on food? And saying help is on the way doesn’t really raise everyone’s hope if it’s been literal days since they’ve had food.

Help only helps when it’s there, and when there’s an ETA.

With how things are going in New Eden Town it seems more likely that the help met an unfortunate end…unless we’re the help, because we’re supposed to banish whatever spirits are tormenting the town and everyone around it.

That’d make sense.

But you also can’t predict when we’ll be there exactly since it all depends on the weather and the ship out on the waters.
