Arathi Highlands is a contested zone, meant for players level 10-30 and founded in Classic World of Warcraft. I remember back in the days, I’d always get too close to the opposing faction by accident and get killed. I’m pretty sure I was just trying to farm materials and I’d always end up running while yelling curse words that didn’t speed up my running skill.
Everything you find below is up to date for patch 9.1.
Reputations:
- 7th Legion
- Bloodsail Buccaneers
- Booty Bay
- Ironforge

Archaeology
There’s a possibility of finding Archaeology dig-sites listed below in this zone, but that doesn’t mean they’ll always be here. It’s just something that’s good to know in case you plan on working with this profession.

- Troll
Battle Pets [7-8]
Aquatic
Beast
Critter
Elemental
Mechanical

Chests
Below are the types of treasure chests that I’ve found in Arathi Highlands. You won’t be able to find a chest in every single location they appear in, and they are on a timer if someone happens to take the specific chests in the zone before you.
- Silverbound Treasure Chest
- Solid Chest
Herbalism
Herbalism Completed in In-Depth Farming Guide
Herbalism has been fully farmed for Arathi Highlands and data has been acquired in my In-Depth Farming Guide, meaning I’ve noted how long it takes to get 10-100 of each herb.
When you first go along this route, it seems pretty good with the herb pickings, but as you continue, they kind of become more scarce, which is why I don’t really bother with this zone all that much for the one profession.
Not only that, but you get a large variety of herbs, meaning you never get a lot of one.
Know that this route goes practically directly into a horde base area.

Skinning
If you’re in the time of Arathi Highlands that results in high level enemies, head over to the person at the south side of the map and ask to return to the past where the lower level mobs roam. During this time, you’ll be focusing on killing mainly raptors, though there are some bears in a specific area. There’s at least one tight-knit spot of raptors, but for the most part, they’re spaced out and you can’t kill in a group.

Reagents – Cloth
Cloth Completed in In-Depth Farming Guide
Cloth has been fully farmed for Arathi Highlands and data has been acquired in my In-Depth Farming Guide, meaning I’ve noted how long it takes to get 50-200 of each cloth.
There are several places that require you to enter caves in order to get the most loot from the enemies in the area, so I made sure to go in them to get an appropriate count of materials. There’s usually a rare hiding in the caves anyway.
Also, I didn’t really find one specific place that had a good respawn of mobs once I killed everyone, so it’s best to just follow the route.
Class: Druid
Timed: N/A — Data is based on a single loop of the full route
- Linen Cloth – 4
- Silk Cloth – 84
- Wool Cloth – 53
Reagents – Elemental
Make sure you’re in the past for this route; if you’re not, speak with the person on the southern side of the map.
In this route, you’re just going to kill mobs in one area after another and rinse and repeat. They don’t have that fast of a respawn rate, so don’t bother waiting around thinking you can just farm one elemental area. I recommend you start with the air elementals, then when you get back to them you can wait for their respawn if they haven’t started appearing yet.
You’ll also fly over an alliance area, so be aware of that.
Class: Demon Hunter
Timed: N/A — Data is based on five loops of the full route
- Breath of Wind – 6
- Core of Earth – 4
- Elemental Air – 9
- Elemental Earth – 7
- Elemental Fire – 12
- Elemental Water – 4
- Essence of Air – 3
- Essence of Earth – 8
- Essence of Fire – 4
- Essence of Water – 4
- Globe of Water – 6
- Heart of Fire – 3
Reagents – Meat
This route and data was taken from the past version of Arathi Highlands.
During the entire route, you’ll be looking to kill three creatures–raptors, spiders, and buzzards. The buzzards are few and far between, but the other creatures will give you a decent chunk of meat by the end of the first loop. Keep in mind the raptors sometimes drop nothing so maybe it’s better to use a skinner for farming them.
Class: Druid
Timed: N/A — Data is based on a single loop of the full route
- Crunchy Spider Leg – 29
- Gooey Spider Leg – 37
- Mystery Meat – 13
- Raptor Egg – 57
- Raptor Flesh – 59
- Small Spider Leg – 31
Reagents – Silk
Silk Completed in In-Depth Farming Guide
Thick Spider’s Silk has been fully farmed for Arathi Highlands and data has been acquired in my In-Depth Farming Guide, meaning I’ve noted how long it takes to get 20 of the silk.
This route takes you to the best places to kill spiders in the zone, though they can be found throughout the map. If you’re in need of Thick Spider’s Silk, then this is the route you’ll want to focus on–just simply kill all spiders you see as you fly the route.
Class: Druid
Timed: 20:00
- Thick Spider’s Silk – 13
